AN INTERIOR designer has shared eight easy ways to boost the value of your home by £10,000.
Laura Rich, who is also a former real estate agent, says it’s easy to get your house price up without spending a fortune.
And here, Laura, from the online store Furniturebox, explains the way to perfect your home transformation following the key interior design trends for 2026.
She revealed that in the New Year, cooler tones will be banished and swapped with warm, earth tones like terracotta and olive.
So, if you want to boost your home’s value by thousands on a budget, keep reading.
Kitchen Revamp
The kitchen is often where we spend the most time, so you should have one you love.
While the average cost of fitting a new kitchen costs around £3,000, you won’t have to spend that much to give it a revamp.
Instead, the interior expert suggests giving it a lick of paint for an instant upgrade.
She says: “Small changes such as repainting can cost as little as £10 or replacing unit doors can have a huge impact.”
If your worktops are looking tired and outdated, she recommends going for a worktop with quartz veining to embrace the trends of 2026.
Garden Privacy
It’s easy to spend thousands on a garden to make it look like an oasis.
But one detail many homeowners skip, is making sure that they have privacy, a feature that can increase your home’s value.
Fences and walls can be built to 2 metres high without planning permission and stop nosy neighbours from peeking over.
Laura adds that you can also use mature trees to block people from viewing your garden.
Kerb Appeal
Laura added: “First impressions count. Most buyers will decide if they like a property before they even get out of the car and it can be hard to shake off negative first impressions created by a poor or unattractive exterior.”
To give your home some kerb appeal, the interior expert recommends adding climbing plants or a trellis around your door for an elevated look with minimal costs.
For brickwork that is well past looking its best, you can get a professional in to repoint the outer bricks for a quick refresh.
Embrace Curves
Rounded furniture will be big for 2026, so it’s worth trying to incorporate it now, especially if you’re looking to sell.
Laura reveals that one statement piece of furniture can totally transform the look of a living room.
You can opt for mid-century pieces, such as a statement rounded sofa or a coffee table with sculptural shapes, to create an instant change.
Woods Good
Wooden furniture will have a huge moment in 2026, but it has to be done a specific way.
Rather than buying pieces that won’t last, people are opting to spend their cash on wooden furniture that lasts a lifetime.
Laura adds: “Look out for simple lines that mix wood with other materials and incorporate curves, fabrics and stone.”
Eight Easy DIY Tips & Tricks
The ultimate guide for homeowners and renters:
Quiet Luxury
The term ‘Quiet Luxury‘ has been doing the rounds for a few years, but 2026 will mark that it is here to stay.
The interior pro says it will be more accessible this time and grounded in everyday life with more nostalgia woven in through retro touches.
That might mean spending a little more on cushions for the sofa or elevating your bedding to incorporate the trend without breaking the bank.
Layer Up
Layering fabrics together will be a big trend next year to make your home feel cosy.
Laura explains: “This speaks to pre-war 1930s sensibilities of taking simple design and adding dimension and interest without too much drama.
“We love to look back – it makes people feel safe.”
You can try adding a nice rug on top of your carpet or adding a lace table cloth under a patterned one to add dimension.
Pop of Colour
Last but not least, Laura reveals the must-have interior colours you need to incorporate into your home.
With the general trend of cosiness taking over 2026, you’ll want to stick to warmer tones.
She reveals green will be a colour that is here to stay, but blues and teals will make a resurgence as well.
