LOVE him or hate him you can’t deny Langer Dan’s legacy as a Cheltenham Festival legend was the result of a masterstoke by Dan Skelton.
The horse fell off the face of the earth through the winter before his Lazarus-like resurrection in the Coral Cup.

Not once, but twice.
And in back-to-back years as well.
Since his retirement, though, Skelton, who is regarded as THE best target trainer in the country, has been on the lookout for another Langer Dan… and I think he might just have found him.
Step forward Supremely West.
The Jimmy Fyffe-owned seven-year-old is loaded with talent and has six wins from 16 races under rules.
But as ever when getting one ready for a Festival handicap – in Supremely West’s case the Pertemps – it’s the ones you don’t win that matter just as much.
Supremely West has been on the premises in virtually all his runs, going up 16lb in two years.
He used to be trained by Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole but was switched to Skelton in September this year.

A first run under Skelton at Uttoxeter in October was aborted on account of the ground before third and fifth-place finishes at Cheltenham.
The suspicion is we haven’t quite seen the very best of Supremely West yet.
And you can’t help but think those two Cheltenham runs were sighters for March.
In my opinion, he got a puzzling ride last time out.
He runs at Sandown on Saturday and just needs to finish in the first four to book his place in March.
Make sure he’s in your tracker because that 16-1 may not hang around forever.
