Wolves on track for lowest Christmas points tally Premier League has EVER seen with rock-bottom side still winless

WOLVES are on track for the lowest Christmas points tally ever after continuing their winless streak.

The Midlands side are set for a miserable festive period after picking up just two Premier League points this season.

Wolves are yet to win a single match this term, having already replaced Vitor Pereira with Rob Edwards.

And Wednesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest saw them sink to their 12th loss in 14 outings.

But things could get even worse at Molineux.

There are still three games to go until Christmas Day.

And it means Wolves are on course to break the lowest points tally in Prem history by that point.

Sheffield United currently boast that unwanted record, collecting just two points by December 25 during the 2020/21 season.

However, the Blades had only played 14 times by that point due to Covid restrictions.

Wolves will have kicked a ball 17 times by Christmas this season.

And with upcoming games seeing them face Manchester United, Arsenal and Brentford, not many will bet against Wolves losing all three fixtures.

The stats do not make for good reading too, with Sheffield United finishing dead last in that 2020/21 season.

Indeed, the other three sides to rank among the lowest Christmas points ever were also relegated.

But Wolves could hit a new low if they fail to rack some points in the new year.

The lowest-ever Premier League points tally across an entire season stands at 11, with Derby County achieving that shocking feat in the 2007/08 campaign.

Wolves have so far picked up just 0.14 points per match this term.

And with 24 games remaining, that same rate means they are on course to earn just over three more points throughout the rest of the campaign — giving them a potentially dreadful finish of just five points.
