Sickened families of nursery worker Vincent Chan’s innocent victims need answers

Untold cruelty

THE scale of the cruelty and horror inflicted by nursery worker Vincent Chan on the children in his care is unfathomable.

We may never know the reasons why he filmed himself sexually abusing babies and toddlers.

But sickened families of the innocent victims need answers.

This was a harrowing and complex investigation for the police.

But parents must be told why Met officers initially failed to properly trawl Chan’s 69 digital devices.

It took 15 months before cops found footage of him abusing children and they are STILL going through all the data recovered.

But it is nursery chain Bright Horizons which the families have the most searching questions for.

Understandably, they want to know how Chan could have worked with children for SEVEN years and allowed to carry out such a horrifying campaign of abuse undetected.

The company runs 300 nurseries across the country, yet last year still made a £39million loss.

Bosses must now co-operate fully with the local council’s Child Safeguarding Practice Review and prove corners weren’t cut.

No family should ever be put through such an ordeal again.

Brexit breaker

HAVING whacked the country with tax rises to win a stay of execution from his party’s Left, next on Sir Keir Starmer’s list appears to be the dismantling of Brexit.

The Prime Minister thinks it’s a surefire way to win back so-called “progressives” who love the EU.

And his aides believe he should turn the next election into another giant re-run of the 2016 Referendum.

Never mind that Brits made their democratic choice. Or that we would be better off economically doing deals with the US rather than Europe.

Officially, Starmer’s position is that going back into the customs union or single market crosses a “red line”.

But after so many other broken promises, can the PM really be believed?

Sums it up

NOT only has the Covid Inquiry run up costs of £192million, we now learn that the Government has spent another £100million on its own response.

We only ever needed a tightly drawn review to help prepare better for a future pandemic.

Instead, it served up a gravy train for lawyers to be paid vast sums of taxpayers’ money to point the blame at the last Tory Government in what was basically a predetermined outcome.

At this rate, we’ll need another public inquiry to explain how this one has ended up costing so much.
