ENGLAND fans are eagerly awaiting the result of the 2026 World Cup draw.
But they could end up witnessing the Three Lions being drawn in a GROUP OF DEATH for next summer‘s tournament.
Thomas Tuchel‘s troops will learn their fate for the 23rd World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States, on Friday evening.
The Three Lions are seeded in Pot One along with other big hitters Argentina, France and Spain.
But their seeded position won’t necessarily save them from being drawn in a nightmare group.
The worst possible outcome for Tuchel’s troops in Friday’s draw in Washington is a group with Uruguay, Scotland and Ghana.
The trio are in pots two, three and four, respectively.
Uruguay are a notoriously difficult team to play against and boast several players in their ranks who play at major clubs in Europe.
The additional pressure that would come with a derby against Scotland would be an unwanted one for the Three Lions.
‘Black Stars’ Ghana would also be tricky customers as they have a litany of players who have previously played in the Prem or currently do so.

England also face the possibility of being drawn against 2006 tournament winners Italy, provided the Azzurri get through the play-offs.
Genarro Gattuso’s charges will face Northern Ireland in their semi-final match-up in March and, if victorious, will face the winner of Wales‘ clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There is also the very possibility that the Three Lions’ defence could end up being terrorised by this season’s current Premier League top goalscorer, Erling Haaland.
Haaland and his Norway team-mates have been placed in Pot Three and are the highest-ranked team in their grouping.
England qualified for next summer’s tournament with a perfect eight wins from eight matches.
They booked passage to the tournament in October with two games to spare.
A proud as punch Tuchel said: “This is our dream to go to the World Cup and we made it.
“We are dominant in games, we are hungry. We have a lot of ball wins in the opponent’s half. It is good. We are on our way.
“The guys train on a high level and the group is a very good group, it is a pleasure to coach them. Step by step, we are getting there.”
