A DAD has shared why he and his family packed up and left the UK for sunny Thailand.
The family-of-five has lived in Thailand and revealed they just rented out a lavish home for the next year.

Taking to social media, the British dad, Rhys, revealed: “We’ve left the UK as a family of five. This is our new house that we’ve just rented out for the next year.”
The lavish cream house was located in a gated community with 24-hour security.
In the distance, you could see a beautiful landscape of mountains, but that’s not all.
Walking around the neighbourhood, Rhys shared that there was also a gym, large swimming pool and a hot tub for residents to relax in.

And what was more was that it cost a fraction of the cost of living in the UK.
He added: “Our rent is £570 a month, our bills are about £20 a month. So, no council tax. That’s it.”
By the pool, there was also a clubhouse for the kids to play in and where parents could go and get a coffee.
Rhys added: “We’re really happy with it.
“We’re going to be travelling a lot this year, but it’s nice to know we’ve got a nice place like this to come back to at such a reasonable price.”
In the comments, Rhys revealed that the family had no desire to return to the UK and would be homeschooling the kids for the next year while they travel around the country.
The clip went viral on his TikTok account @packed.up.fcked.off with 933k views and 34k likes.
Many took to the comments to share their thoughts and were in awe of the family’s new life.
One person wrote: “One of my mates works from home permanently for a UK company. But lives in Thailand and uses a vpn so they don’t even know.”
Another commented: “I have to say what’s going on in the UK right now, I don’t blame anyone for leaving.”
“I’m so jealous literally living my dream,” penned a third.
How easy is it to move abroad?
Brexit means British citizens now have to apply for visas to move to countries within the EU. While some countries residency restrictions are easier than others, here’s what you need to do at home before moving:
- Notify HMRC about your upcoming move.
- Let your local authority know and provide a forwarding address.
- Contact your mortgage and utility providers and bank before leaving.
- If you have paid enough UK national insurance contributions, you can qualify for a state pension abroad – contact the International Pension Centre.
- You can sign up to the Royal Mail’s redirection service.
- If you have outstanding student loans, contact the Student Loans Centre.
- If you have children, give due notice to childcares and schools.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Good luck. What an adventure for your little ones.”
“It looks beautiful, enjoy your new life,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “Don’t blame you!”
