IF YOU’VE started shopping for Christmas, now is the time to start thinking about how you will wrap your gifts.
From kitchen roll to baking paper, help cut the cost with these creative ideas . . .
ROLL WITH IT: If you have lots of presents to give, a roll of brown parcel paper is a great-value buy.
At Amazon, you can pick up a 20m roll for £5.49.
Tie it with string or ribbon for a chic, rustic look that’s cheaper than branded paper.
If you need to quickly wrap a gift, another simple idea is to use some baking paper.
KIDS’ GALLERY: Turn your little ones’ artwork into unique wrapping paper that their grandparents will love.
Schedule a colouring-in afternoon with the kids, then use their drawings to wrap your presents.
If you have a newborn, use poster paints and paper to capture their footprints or handprints.
KITCH IDEA: Don’t bin the inner tube of your kitchen roll — it’s the perfect thing to wrap up small gifts such as jewellery.
It’s especially good for covering small bottles, which are usually quite awkward to wrap in paper.
GO GREEN: Don’t splash out on pricey bows and plastic decorations — just head to the park instead.
Pine cones, sprigs of holly and interesting twigs are great for adding a unique touch to your prezzies.
Just tie them to your brown parcel paper presents with string for a totally free, natural decoration that will look nice and festive.
TAG TEAM: Get creative by cutting up last year’s Christmas cards and you’ll never have to buy gift tags again.
Pretty bits of leftover wrapping paper also work well.
Simply cut out shapes, punch a hole in the corner and thread with string for unique tags that can look better than shop-bought ones.
BAGS FOR LIFE: It’s a little late for this year, but always hang on to gift bags from birthdays and Christmas.
Fold and store them once the presents are opened and reuse year after year.
