WITH temperatures dropping by the day, many homeowners will soon be searching for cheap and cheerful ways to stay warm at home this winter.
And with energy bills soaring, chances are the majority will be looking to stay nice and toasty without having to turn their heating on.
After all, with Christmas around the corner, we don’t just have spare money to throw away on skyrocketing bills.
Well, if this sounds like you and your household, then no fear…because one savvy social media user has come up with the perfect solution.
And perhaps the best part of all? It’ll cost you as little as just £4.
In a post shared to TikTok (@cookingwithus786), the shopping fan took her social media followers with her on a trip to her local Primark and showed some of the reduced-price items that’ve been slashed in the sale.
But you better be quick – with many of the products sold out online and getting snapped up in stores.
First up, she starts with the ‘Large Soft Ribbed Throw,’ which is available in two neutral colours – either light grey or light pink.
The online product description reads: “The soft blanket everyone needs in their home.”
While the retail price was originally £12, it’s now been cut to just £8, meaning shoppers can save themselves £4.
So there’s no need to spend a small fortune when it comes to cosying up on the sofa during those chilly winter evenings and binging your next Netflix series.
And that’s not the only bargain on offer in the high-street store, with the social media user then revealing a tartan, fleece-lined throw that is also in the reductions section.
Instead of paying the full-price of £18, shoppers can now nab it for the cut price of £14.
And while many of us may be waiting for the Christmas sales to hit before we start our sale shopping, Primark has well and truly started early.
Also reduced in price is a 50cm x 50cm white fluffy cushion which is now just £4 instead of £6, along with a mink-coloured 170cm x 200cm throw that’s been slashed from £16 to £10, meaning a £6 saving.
5 ways to keep your house warm in winter
Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.
1. Curtains
“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.
This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.
2. Rugs
“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.
“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”
3. Check your insulation
Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.
“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.
4. Keep your internal doors closed
“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.
“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”
5. Block drafts
Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.
It’s also great news for Hello Kitty lovers as there’s a character-themed £16 throw that’s now just £7, meaning a £9 saving.
The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 129k views and several comments from bargain hunters up and down the country.
“What great savings,” praised one, followed by the eye-popping emoji.
A second shared the love heart emoji and wrote: “Sales on!”
