TWO Emmerdale fan favourites have decided to leave the village in a shock double exit.
The loved-up pair are plotting their getaway just 24 hours after they were held hostage and injured by a vengeful ex.
It was revealed on the ITV soap last night that Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) are leaving the village.
In a scene with Robert’s sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) we see the couple discuss their unexpected departure.
Aaron reveals that he’s not going to share where they’re heading and how long for in a dramatic twist.
The pair have decided to “get on with their lives” after they were targeted by Robert’s prison hubby Kev Townsend played by Chris Coghill.
Aaron admits that Kev “would be mad” to go after the couple with the police tracking his whereabouts.
A worried Robert then asks if his sister will be alright on her own insisting that she’ll be fine, she replies that Kev isn’t interested in her anyway.
Robert reveals that the exit is “a chance for a fresh start” as the pair decide to leave.
Robert Sugden’s mysterious prison husband Kev made his way to the village in September.
He was seen as a dangerous criminal who had saved Robert’s life in prison and the pair had grown close – even marrying.
When he arrived in the village he said he had just months to live and had been released on compassionate grounds.
Scheming Robert, who had reunited with ex Aaron Dingle in the meantime, decided to reunite with Kev in an effort to get his money once he died.
However it recently emerged that Kev isn’t dying and doesn’t in fact have millions in the bank and his dark side was exposed after it was revealed that he manipulated Robert into staying in prison.
In recent unfortunate events things got even darker when Kev decided to hold both Robert and Aaron hostage in last ditch attempt to reconcile with his lover.
After grabbing a sword after robbing a pawn shop he threatened to use it and injured Robert in the process, having cut his arm.
Kev’s unwilling robbery getaway driver Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) was also caught up in Kev’s mess.
But after Robert made it clear he did not want to be with Kev the trio got away in the end.
Kev decided to leave the village himself to evade authorities and now Aaron and Robert are following suit worried he may return.
