But the one-year deal he inked is set to expire at the end of the month.

And according to El Chiringuito, the four-time Champions League winner has decided not to sign a new deal with Rayados.

The 39-year-old, however, is said to want to continue playing and has vowed to join a new club.

Ramos recently opened the door to signing a new contract at the Estadio BBVA.

The European Championship and World Cup winner said: “I am very happy [here].

“It is a country that has treated me wonderfully, a club with a very interesting project, and we hope that this year goes well for us.

“Now in December the contract ends, hopefully we stay here, as we are very comfortable.”

Monterrey have held talks with Ramos and his representatives over a new deal.

Club president Jose Antonio Noriega would love for the Spanish great to commit his future to the club.

But he’s refusing to let the uncertainty surrounding Ramos’ future distract from the team’s pursuit of the league title.

He said: “I understand the concern, but at the moment we want to centre ourselves and focus on the pitch.

“I can tell you straight away that yes, of course, there have been talks, which is normal.

“But I would prefer not to go into detail because it distracts us from what is most important now: thinking about how the team will perform.”
