SITALEKI Akuaola is the latest name to be linked with Salford’s disastrous ownership – who have left people waiting to be paid again.

Isiosaia ‘Sire’ Kailahi and Curtiz Brown are carrying on regardless, even though the club faces being wound up next Wednesday over unpaid tax approaching £1 million.

However, SunSport understands wages were not met by their scheduled deadline on Thursday, with many players and staff members still waiting for October’s wages.

There is talk of them arriving on Tuesday, the day before the Red Devils are back in the High Court facing a winding-up petition, with a growing belief it will be adjourned for a FIFTH time.

Andrew Henderson and Kylie Leuluai are seemingly setting up offices like they will be there for the long-term, as director of rugby and director of operations respectively.

And SunSport understands former Salford and Warrington prop Akauola has been added to the payroll as he looks set to sign up for a player welfare role if a much-discussed bridging loan of about £5 million arrives.

The 33-year-old was last at Featherstone and his emergence, as well as other deals reportedly being offered, is a sign of growing confidence the owners will be bailed out.

That, though, would leave a team coached by Krisnan Inu desperately searching for somewhere to play as Salford City Council, which owns the Community Stadium, may evict them over unpaid rent.

The Red Devils would also face a shattered fanbase, almost all of whom want Kailahi and Brown out, as they start life in the Championship.
