Kelly Brook admits husband Jeremy Parisi was ‘petrified’ to propose to her after string of failed engagements on I’m A Celebrity – but Shona McGarty walks away from conversation for heartbreaking reason

I’m A Celebrity star Kelly Brook revealed her husband Jeremy Parisi was ‘petrified’ to propose – prompting Shona McGarty to leave the conversation for a gut-wrenching reason.

Kelly, 46, married Italian model Jeremy, 40, back in 2022, seven years after meeting.

On Thursday’s episode of the ITV show, the model opened up about her past engagements prior to Jeremy.

She shared: ‘I’d been engaged about five times before I met my husband!’

Kelly’s longest relationship before Jeremy was with Hollywood hardman Jason Statham, 58. The lads’ mags favourite dated the actor for six years between 1997 and 2003, and got engaged in their period.

Fiancé number two was another actor – Billy Zane, now 59.

Scottish international rugby union player Thom Evans, 40, was Kelly’s third husband-to-be, and they dated from 2010 to 2013.

Kelly moved on with Gladiator competitor David McIntosh, 39, who marked her fourth engagement.

Kelly admitted Jeremy had ‘never really proposed, I think he was petrified in the past, that because of all the engagements I’d had that it was the beginning of the end.’

The model explained how she had ultimately suggested marriage – while Martin Kemp admitted wife Shirlie did the same with him.

The Spandau Ballet and EastEnders legend recalled: ‘I never proposed to her in a way, I was kind of putting it off and putting it off.’

Martin told the others he and Shirlie had been in Dublin, where she dragged him into a jewellers with a ring in mind.

However, the discussion about engagements had a profound impression on former EastEnders star Shona.

The actress, 34, split from her musician fiancé David Bracken just weeks before setting out for the jungle.

Shona and the Irish guitarist first met in 2023 after David messaged her on TikTok, asking if she’d like to duet on a song after watching one of her videos.

The soap star admitted to Tom Read Wilson she was struggling with the engagement conversation due to her recent break-up and had to walk away.

Tom told her: ‘I think you’ve done a really sensible thing’, before giving the heartbroken star a pep talk.

Of their split, a source told The Sun: ‘They are on amicable terms, but have ended their romantic relationship.

‘There are no hard feelings, they realised they wanted different things and are better off as friends. Shona is now focusing on her music and career.’

The Daily Mail contacted Shona’s representative for comment at the time.

It comes as the ITV show’s ‘rivals’ challenge has split the celebrities into two opposing camps: luxurious Win City and dreary Doomsville.

Kelly, Shona, Martin and Tom are all in Doomsville, along with Aitch and Eddie Kadi.

Although intentionally designed to be uncomfortable, the group haven’t let the situation dampen their spirits.

On the first morning following the split, the Doomsville celebrities discussed their new situation, Kelly said: ‘Sleep deprivation, food deprivation but you know what they can’t do…’

Martin chipped in: ‘Break our spirit!’

As Kelly added: ‘There is no fun deprivation in this place!’

Elsewhere, the Win City and Doomsville camps went head to head in the Your Cake Or Mine challenge.

This entailed both camps having six cupcakes locked above a box of offal – with the public selected rival pairs facing each other.

At the sound of a klaxon, the game began with whoever finished first winning their cupcake and their opponent’s falling into the offal.

First to play was Win City’s Alex Scott against Doomsville’s Shona, with the actress emerging victorious.

Following this was Doomsville campmate Tom Read Wilson defeating Win City’s Ruby Wax to get his cupcake.

However, Win City soon got the momentum back with back-to-back victories: Jack Osbourne defeating Eddie Kadi and Vogue Williams triumphing over Kelly Brook.

Rapper Aitch – real name Harrison Armstrong – representing Doomsville defeated Win City pal AngryGinge to nab his cupcake.

Last but not least, Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley, of Win City, beat Martin Kemp to obtain the final cupcake.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
