THIS is the moment a Brazilian TV reporter had her hair pulled by Flamengo fans during a live broadcast.
Duda Dalponte, who works for Globo, had been covering the build-up to the Copa Libertadores final between Palmeiras and Flamengo and was reporting at Galeao Airport in Rio de Janeiro.
She had been capturing scenes as fans travelled to Peru for the showpiece on November 26, before being attacked by a supporters behind her.
In scenes that have triggered nationwide outrage, Dalponte is seen speaking to host Roberto Kovalick in front of a group of Flamengo fans before having her hair yanked.
In the clip, her ponytail is pulled a number of times as she turns around to see who is responsible.
The culprit has not been identified but Dalponte hit out at the “aggression” on show from the fans and called their behaviour “regrettable”.
Dalponte later posted a video saying she initially thought the yanking was accidental after pushing from the crowds behind her.
She said: “The second time, I realised it was intentional, and then the third time I turned around to try to understand what was happening, to try to see who was doing it.
“I spoke with some fans there, but we couldn’t find who it was.”
She said that there were “a lot of excited people” and “people celebrating”.
Dalponte added: “But some things are not jokes, they’re not just excitement — some things are aggression, and what happened today was aggression.
“It’s a regrettable situation; I was very sad to go through this, for this to still happen.
“I hope it doesn’t happen again, and that it serves as a lesson for those who disrespect journalists working on the street, especially women, to understand the impact.”
She wrote in a caption alongside her video: “Long day but all good! Thank you for the messages.”
Fans have reacted with horror after seeing the video as one called the fans’ behaviour “revolting”.
One said: “I was watching live and couldn’t believe it. It’s very revolting. My solidarity with the colleague.”
Another added: “Lack of respect! Total absurd! Our solidarity with the reporter.”
A third wrote: “Lamentable and revolting. It does not represent the Flamengo fanbase. All respect and consideration to all the women.”
And a fourth said: “She has every reason to be outraged by what happened yesterday, and those fans who assaulted must be identified and punished.”
