World’s best restaurants revealed and 83 UK spots make the list – is YOUR favourite on it?

The world’s top 1,000 restaurants have been named by prestigious travel guide La Liste – and 83 UK spots have made it on to the list.

It’s La Liste’s tenth anniversary this year and, for the first time, 10 restaurants from eight different countries share the top spot in its 2026 ranking. With a score of 99.5, the highest achieved, these restaurants are some of the best around the world.

From Switzerland, Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl joins the list, and Guy Savoy from France also scores 99.5. Japan‘s restaurant in this top spot is Matsukawa.

Meanwhile, the Italian spot ranked number one is Da Vittorio, alongside Spain‘s Martin Berasategui and Germany‘s Scwarzwaldstube.

Le Bernardin and SingleThread in the US scored 99.5 too, as well as Lung King Heen and Robuchon au Dome in China.

As for the UK, the highest-ranking restaurant is L’Enclume in the Lake District with a score of 99.

L’Enclume, a three Michelin-starred restaurant with space for only six diners at one time, received a score of 99.

As a result, this brought the UK hotspot into second place globally.

Simon’s philosophy is to incorporate ‘ingredients that change with the seasons inspire my menu development and ensure a truly traceable dining experience reflecting my farm-to-table philosophy’, according to the restaurant’s website.

Core by Clare Smyth, London

Located in London’s Notting Hill, Core is known for its light, airy ambience and excellent service.

With dishes such as ‘Smoked Fowey mussels’ or ‘Rhug Estate venison’ and seven-course tasting menus, it was awarded three stars in the 2021 Michelin Guide.
