Meghan Markle is getting into the Thanksgiving spirit – but concerned viewers noticed a faux pas in the kitchen that could endanger her guests’ health if not attended to.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, shared a short clip to Instagram showing her preparing a turkey ahead of the holiday.
In the short clip, the actress mixed a variety of seasonings into a bowl, rubbing the mixture onto the raw bird to prepare it for the oven.
Although she appears to wash her hands after rubbing the seasoning in, eagle-eyed viewers noticed she kept all her jewelry on while handling the raw meat, sparking concern about her lack of kitchen hygiene.
‘I don’t know anyone who wears their rings and bracelets when handling food, especially a turkey. Guaranteed spread of bacteria,’ one horrified user commented on the video.
A second wrote: ‘I mean I love sparkly engagement rings as much as the next jewelry-hound, but not while cooking!’
‘Right? Who wants crap getting stuck in your ring’s setting?’ asked another.
‘So gross, and it’s basic food handling knowledge. Proof she has no idea what she’s doing,’ declared someone else.

‘People just don’t realize that rings can and will harbor germs and by not taking your rings off you are asking for trouble,’ commented another viewer.
‘Jewelry, bracelet and rings while touching raw meat?’ another horrified user wrote.
Someone else then pointed out: ‘Then she picks up the pepper grinder without washing her hands. Another Salmonella Sussex disaster.’
They continued: ‘My mom learned that lesson. She had to have her wedding and anniversary rings cut off her fingers because of the infection. The doctors told her all it takes is one small scratch. I always take off my rings and any other jewelry I am wearing on my hands when I’m in the kitchen.’
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, raw turkey and its juice can contaminate anything they touch.
‘Be sure to handle your turkey correctly to prevent harmful germs from spreading to other food or your family and friends,’ they suggested.
State Food Safety said there are several reasons why jewelry shouldn’t be worn while preparing food.
They pointed out that much like phones, jewelry tends to collect bacteria and pathogens, which can transfer germs.

They also said jewelry isn’t sanitized enough and that germs can build up on it – even when you’re vigilant about handwashing.
Wearing jewelry can also inhibit the efficiency of handwashing. The site noted that even if accessories are removed before washing your hands, there is still a risk of re-contaminating your hands when you put them back on.
Earlier in the week, the mom-of-two was slammed for another kitchen blunder, after suggesting serving yoghurt to kids in a delicate glass dish.
The Duchess was preparing a breakfast station that included a yogurt parfait, which she presented beautifully in a vintage-looking coupe glass, assembling the dish with some As Ever jam, yogurt, fruit and a drizzle of her As Ever honey.
‘You could do a yogurt parfait in a normal bowl, or you could just make it a little bit more special,’ she suggested in the clip as she showcased the delicate coups.
She then added, ‘All of this is great for kids.’
But some viewers were left horrified at the thought of giving children a delicate vessel that could smash and result in injuries to anyone near it.
