THREE in 10 Brits read more about Donald Trump than King Charles, according to research.

A poll of 2,000 adults found 30 per cent know as much about American pop culture as they do their own.

With an average of 40 per cent of the information they consume every day coming from across the pond – with 23 per cent preferring Taylor Swift’s music to Dua Lipa’s.

Almost one in 10 (nine per cent) know more about Zendaya and Tom Holland’s relationship than the royal family – rising to 29 per cent for 18- to 24-year-olds.

And 34 per cent of the same age group are more knowledgeable about the Kardashians than EastEnders.

A spokesperson from Lottoland.co.uk, which commissioned the survey to complement its US £520 million Powerball draw, said: “There is so much interesting US culture at our fingertips to consume.

“From TV, film and music to food and drink, the US has no shortage of things that have made it to the UK.

“Even the politics is a hot topic of conversation – more so than the royals according to our stats.”

The research also found 18 per cent watch more American TV than English options – with drama, comedy and crime being the favourite US genres.

As for music from the United States, pop, rock and country reign supreme – with 88 per cent claiming to enjoy some sort of American culture in their British life.

Aside from TV and music, Brits also like food (37 per cent), books (24 per cent) and sports (17 per cent) from across the pond.

While 15 per cent like to celebrate Thanksgiving on UK soil and one in 10 mark Independence Day on 4th July.

With Netflix, Hollywood films and Coca-Cola named the top things to have come out of America, followed by Rock and Roll, Disneyland and instant coffee, according to the research by OnePoll.

The spokesperson from Lottoland.co.uk added: “It’s great to see a sharing of cultures between different nations.

“We have a lot to thank the US for.

“It’s hard to imagine what the country would be like without Netflix, Hollywood films or Coca-Cola.”
