Stranger Things fans ‘already crying’ as Netflix drops explosive last trailer for final series marking the ‘end of an era’

Stranger Things fans are ‘already crying’ after Netflix dropped a high-octane trailer for the show’s final series.

On Wednesday, the smash-hit programme will release the opening volume of its last-ever outing – with three episodes dropping.

The show launched back in 2016, with its young stars including Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard becoming household names.

Meanwhile, the explosive teaser shows Hawkins’ residents gearing up for a final battle against villain Vecna.

An official synopsis reads: ‘The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown.

‘Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.

‘As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.

To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party – standing together, one last time.’

One scene shows Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin agreeing on a plan.

‘I want to see Vecna’s heart on a platter’ says Dustin, in an uncharacteristically dark line for the character.

In another scene, Jim Hopper (David Harbour) ominously says “We’ve gotta go”, as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) stands behind him.

Elsewhere, Dustin is seen in a car with pal Steve (Joe Keery), as well as Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), in a seemingly tense scene.

Other fan favourites including Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder),Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman), Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) and Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) also pop up in the trailer.

One fan wrote: ‘I’m gonna miss this show soo much’, adding two crying emojis.

Another penned: ‘Can’t believe this show is ending, 10 years of art!’

A third shared: ‘I was nearly 11 when i saw stranger things for the first time with my big sisters, I’m now 21 watching it with my nieces.

‘Never thought I’d see this show actually come to an end for some reason. I’m in so much denial.’

‘This is going to be such an EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER’, said a fourth.

A fifth chimed in: ‘I can’t believe that this is one the last trailers we’ll ever get for the show.’

️Earlier this month, actor Gaten, 23, reflected on growing up as a child star after being catapulted to fame aged 14 on Stranger Things.

Speaking about how Stranger Things had impacted him in an interview with Fault Magazine, Gaten got candid about finding huge success at such a young age.

Asked about the pressures for child stars to always show how grateful and indebted they are, Gaten admitted it ‘can feel stupid to complain’, but that he was ‘probably still a bit of a kid’.

He said: ‘It is a very consistent thought of mine to always feel like I need to overcompensate and vocalise my gratitude because sometimes it can feel stupid to complain.

‘I’m surrounded by love, gratitude, and a deep passion for what I do, and I truly recognise how fortunate that is.

‘Still, it’s fair to admit that I missed out on certain experiences and nuances that might have helped me grow into a more well-rounded adult.

‘In some ways, I’m probably still a bit of a kid because I never had the chance to develop those parts of myself fully — even though what happened to me was ultimately a very good thing.’

He added: ‘And when it comes to new kids joining the industry, like the new Potter cast, my biggest advice would be to just focus on having as much fun as possible, that’s really what it’s all about.’

Stranger Things is available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
