A DOG owner has recounted the harrowing story of how she lost the tip of her nose when her pet bit her face.
The unprovoked attack resulted in several surgeries, but the 31-year-old says she has “no anger” towards her pooch.
Shayna Crimo has spoken candidly online about the incident, which occurred in January, 2025.
The TikToker said she “screamed bloody murder” for her partner James to call emergency services after the sudden attack.
Shock attack
It happened shortly after Shayna came home from an evening out with friends.
Her pal has accompanied her home to say goodbye to her other pooch, 13-year-old pit bull Krieo, who was scheduled to be put down after a cancer diagnosis.
After Shayna’s friend left, she entered her bedroom where James was sleeping with their dog King, a Catahoula Leopard Dog.
She had owned King for 11 years at the time of the attack, having adopted him as a puppy.
Shayna explained to her TikTok followers how she bent down to give her beloved pet “a kiss” when the violent attack happened.
“It all happened in five seconds,” she recalled, adding that King immediately “released and ran away”.
“It happened without any warnings, he didn’t growl first and then bite me, it was a flip of a switch,” the TikToker said.
She revealed that King had never shown any signs of violence before, but pointed out that he did sometimes get “a little agitated at night”.
Shayna also cited another possible reason behind the sudden attack which had been mentioned by dog trainers.
The experts revealed that many pooches can become triggered by alcohol consumption by humans, with their senses heightening to changes in smell and body movement.
Multiple surgeries
Thankfully, King’s quick attack only affected the soft tissue of Shayna’s nose and lip.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital where a surgeon recommended she undergo a forehead flap procedure.
This involved taking skin and a vein from the forehead and using it to reconstruct the tip of her nose.

However, Shayna’s forehead was too short, leading the medical professionals to take skin from her scalp line.
While she pointed out that the results of the surgery “made the bite look a lot worse than it was”, she has been left with permanent scarring.
The tip of Shayna’s nose has recovered after several more surgeries, however the skin can look grey, feel itchy, and grow hair.
She regularly uses laser treatments, hair removal creams, and razors on her nose tip to combat this.
And as for King, Shayna was visited by animal control in response to the incident and she has since hired a professional dog trainer.
“My feelings haven’t changed towards him, no anger, no resentment towards him,” she explained.
However, King no longer sleeps in the same room as the couple, upon the trainer’s recommendation.
“The bedroom is off limits,” Shayna informed her followers.
Apart from this small change, she insists her pooch is still the same well behaved dog she raised from a puppy.
“If you get in face at night, sure [he can be dangerous], otherwise he’s a good boy, just like he’s been for over 10 years” she concluded.
