Horrifying footage shows snarling dog mauling daschund in street leaving it for dead as court rules it WON’T be put down

THIS is the shocking moment a bull terrier viciously mauled a dachshund and left it for dead less than two years after it attacked another dog.

The snarling pet, called ‘Pepper’, leapt over a fence and sunk her teeth into the helpless sausage dog’s throat in Hounslow, West London while her owner’s partner smoked a cigarette in the front garden.

Mobile phone footage shows the shocking attack which took place on July 5.

A member of the public is seen stomping on Pepper’s head as the terrified dachshund Gusto cries out in pain.

The owner’s half-dressed partner is then seen punching the bull terrier as the chaos ensues.

Ewelina Wydra, 30, appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court where she admitted being the owner of a dangerously out of control dog.

Staff at the nearby Capello cafe also rushed to the scene to save the bloodied pet who survived his injuries.

However, the bull terrier will not be put down as she “does no constitute a danger to public safety” despite being subjected to a behaviour contract after mauling another dog in January 2024.

Wydra was slapped with a £1,633 fee which included a £333 fine, £100 court costs, £500 kennel costs and £700 compensation to Gusto’s owners.

Prosecutor Shelina Khudurun said Gusto’s owner’s partner was walking him on a leash when he heard barking from behind a fence.

“He said he saw a man standing there smoking a cigarette. The dog was running around the garden and it did not have a muzzle or a leash,” said Ms Khudurun.

“Wydra’s partner ran up to the dog and tried to pull it away but to no avail.

“If it wasn’t for a collar or leash, the Daschund would have died.”

Pamela Rose, defending, said Wydra has since installed a gate on the side of her house to avoid future attacks.

“Her dog is a family pet,” said Ms Rose.

“To her it is like a child.

“I take issue with the crown saying that the only option is for the dog to be destroyed.

“The Dangerous Dog Act came into the force not to deal with dogs on dogs but with dogs on people.”

Sentencing, Magistrate Philip Sethill told Wydra: “This was an unprovoked attack on a small dog causing significant distress to its owner.
