EMMERDALE’s Lisa Riley has a heartbreaking reason as to why she will never marry her fiance Al despite being engaged for seven years.
The actress is notoriously private about her romance with Al and often chooses to keep any mention of her love life out of the spotlight.
Lisa is understood to have begun a relationship with him in 2014 before he got down on one knee four years later.
However, she has never married him despite branding him her “soulmate” on I’m A Celebrity this week.
But there is a tragic reason as to why Lisa won’t ever be walking down the aisle.
Lisa has admitted she would struggle to ever go through with a flash wedding ceremony without the presence of her parents.
She broke down when discussing the passing of her mother in the Aussie jungle this week.
Lisa was always close with her and was left heartbroken when she died.
She previously told The Mirror that she wouldn’t enjoy a wedding without her mum by her side and insisted that she and Al already consider themselves married without it being legal or official.
Lisa told the publication: “We’re already married, but not married and honestly, I truly couldn’t cope with the big day without my mum by my side. Why would I want to put myself through that?

“Al lost his mum not long ago, and he’s got no parents.
“Thank God I’ve got Dad. But you know, we’re not kids – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. We’re 11 years together in June.”
She further added: “We’ve lost both our mums. And when it comes to things like weddings, you do it for the other people.’
“I’m never going to change my name, so really, what would be different?”
Lisa’s mum Cath died in 2012, and Al’s mum, fondly known to Lisa as Nana, passed last year.
Speaking to Fabulous in 2023, Lisa added: “We’ve lost both our mums and when it comes to things like weddings, you do it for the other people.
“I don’t think I could cope with a wedding day without my mum.
“In Al, I have found someone who loves me for me and vice versa, which I never thought would happen. That’s all that matters.
“As long as we’re happy, we don’t need wedding rings on our fingers. What difference would rings make?
“I wouldn’t be able to wear a wedding band very much anyway because I’ve always got my character Mandy Dingle’s blingy rings on.”
