Woman, 49, dies in hospital a month after nine-year-old girl found dead at house in Cotswolds village

A 49-year-old woman has died in hospital a month after a nine-year-old girl was found dead at a house in Islip.

The woman had been kept under police watch after she was found severely injured at a property in the Oxfordshire village on the edge of the Cotswolds on October 21.

She was discovered alongside a young girl who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other children, a boy and a girl, were treated in hospital and later discharged.

The woman succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, Thames Valley Police said. Her next of kin have been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

A force spokesperson said: ‘Our investigation following the death of the nine-year-old girl at an address in Middle Street on Tuesday 21 October is ongoing and we continue to support her family at this extremely difficult time.

‘We are still not currently seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.’

Last month, investigators said they had been unable to determine the cause of the nine-year-old’s death following a post-mortem examination.

This is a breaking story – more to follow.
