WITH the Christmas clock ticking on, many of us will be hunting for the perfect Advent Calendar to use in December.
And whether you want a classic chocolate one, beauty or jewellery, it seems they keep getting more and more expensive each year.
Fortunately, Hope Bachelor has shared how she is saving hundreds of pounds by making her own using a £12 buy.
Taking to social media, the Masterchef contestant said: “I came across this in Hobbycraft and I’ve never owned a bougie Advent Calendar.
“You know, like the kind from Liberty. So I thought, let’s use this and make our own bougie advent calendar.”
Hope had found a wooden Advent Calendar in Hobbycraft, which is currently on sale for just £12 and decided to give it a makeover.
The buy comes with 24 drawers all differing in size, making perfect for creating your own Advent Calendar for December or for your children.
Hope first started by using some maroon spray paint she bought from B&Q to colour the drawers and letting it dry.
Next, she got a bunch of free wallpaper samples and cut them to size for the front of each drawer and glued them on.
The next task to complete was to add some number stickers to each drawer so you know which one to open every day, which she got from Amazon.
Now the Advent Calendar was complete and Hope was thrilled with how it turned out.
She said: ” I may not have a Liberty one, but I do have my very own one that I’ll be able to fill with various different things.
“DIY bougie advent calendar. Very good.”
In the comments, Hope gave some suggestions of what to fill the drawers with.
“A few ideas: mini chocolates obviously, some fun costume jewellery (earrings etc), essential oils for our mini diffuser, lip balm, mini toiletries from SpaceNK, scratch cards, gift card for a coffee, activity cards/date night cards, good deed cards (take a donation to the food bank etc),” she revealed.
The clip went viral on her TikTok account @toastwithhope with over 210k views and 22k likes.
