AN INTERIOR guru has claimed it is officially time to ditch feature walls for good.
Instead, Emelia Newman revealed the four new homeware trends you should try instead, including a genius ceiling hack that’s sure to save you loads of cash.
So if you want a home that looks luxurious but won’t break the bank, you’ve come to the right place and will need to take notes.
Posting on social media, Emelia, who often shares tips and tricks on how to create a “high-end home on a budget,” urged people to “stop with feature walls.”
She explained: “Now, we all know feature walls are no longer cool, but annoyingly, they did serve a purpose – they were cheaper because they use less wallpaper, they added impact without committing to every wall, they used up leftover rolls and they highlighted certain areas of a room.”
But Emelia stressed that feature walls “aren’t the only option” and instead, shared her four favourite alternatives that will “give you all the benefits of a feature wall but with way more originality.”

First things first, the interior lover, who is from Shepway, Maidstone, acknowledged why wallpapering your ceiling is not only stylish, but kind to your purse too.
Instead of having to wallpaper an entire wall, Emelia stressed: “Wallpapering your ceiling is such a genius way of getting your dream wallpaper into a room without breaking the bank.”
As well as this, the content creator described wallpapering a ceiling as “perfect for bedrooms where you look at the ceiling a lot.”
Secondly, Emelia, who is on a mission to create a gorgeous home “without spending a fortune,” got candid on her “obsession with wallpaper borders.”
She gushed: “They give that hit of colour and interest without overdoing it.”
Not only this, but wallpapering inside panelling, according to Emelia, “feels curated” and “almost like the wallpaper is artwork.”
Emelia described this new trend as “such a stunning way to showcase your favourite design” but for a “fraction of the price of wallpapering an entire room.”
And finally, Emelia shared the fourth trend you won’t want to miss – and it’s sure to make your shelving units pop.
Emelia beamed: “Wallpapering inside open shelving creates such a focal point in a room – I can’t wait to find an opportunity to do it in my home.”
