The smashed up white Prius appears to have been forced into the central reservation in an alleged ram raid.

Both the back and front windows have been broken amid the ordeal.

Meanwhile the Range Rover sits with it’s engine running and the alleged robbers make their getaway.

Northamptonshire Police have also appealed for dashcam footage in connection with the incident on the M1.

The force confirmed they are investigating an “alleged robbery” which unfolded near junction 16 on the southbound carriageway.

Officers have since arrested four men aged 28, 29, 32 and 32 in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson said: “Between 3pm and 3.30pm, the driver of a white Toyota Prius was forced to stop by the driver of a black Range Rover.

“The occupants of the Range Rover exited the vehicle and approached the other driver, before allegedly threatening him and stealing items.

“Four men from South Yorkshire aged 28, 29, 32 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

A National Highways spokesperson told The Sun: “At 3.01pm our Stopped Vehicle Detection (SVD) system detected stationary traffic on lane 4 at the location.

“At 3.02pm we set signs and signals were set to close lane 4, including setting the red X on the overhead gantries to close the lane to protect the vehicle and any occupants from oncoming traffic.

“At 3.03pm a National Highways Traffic Officer arrived at the scene to assist and arrange recovery of the Toyota Prius.

“A 15:04 a passing recovery vehicle went to assist (the Traffic Officer who had made the original request for recovery arranged for this to be formally logged as assisting with recovery).

“The vehicle was removed from the scene. Another traffic officer crew attended to help with clearing the scene of debris and removal of traffic cones.

“The lane was reopened at 3.30pm.”

The force are appealing to motorists who may have dashcam footage of the incident.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

This comes as other shocking crash videos have been caught on camera.

Dashcam footage captured the moment a paedo flipped his car after speeding towards oncoming traffic on the way to court.

Cops spotted Luke Jarrett, 26, recklessly driving a green Jeep Cherokee on the A47 towards Wisbech in Cambridgeshire on September 22.

Jarrett swerved into the path of a police car to stop it overtaking him after he was spotted.

The car veered wildly before flipping onto its side as it crashed into nearby trees.

Jarrett then climbed out of the wreckage where he was arrested for failing to stop.

Elsewhere, a lorry driver ploughed into stationary traffic at 50mph, causing a horror crash that sent a car flipping onto its roof.
