FACELIFTS are booming in popularity thanks to the likes of Kris Jenner opting for the surgery.
And recently a 73-year-old woman has amazed internet users by showing off her age-defying looks after flying to the “facelift capital” of the world, Thailand.
After putting it off for six years, Pamela decided to finally take the plunge and opt for the surgical procedure to wind back the clock.
She opted for a full facelift with neck lift, chin liposuction, upper and lower eyelid surgery and fat transfer to the face.
In a clip shared by Destination Beauty, who performed the surgeries, people were amazed at her before and after photos.
They wrote: “At 73, Pamela decided it’s never too late to feel refreshed and glowing.”
People were quick to comment on the results, with one saying: “She looks terrific and very natural.”
Another added: “20 years younger! Congrats!”
The clinic was open about the costs of their surgery in the comments and said a mid face and neck lift costs approximately $6,500 (£4,927).
Facelifts – medically known as a rhytidectomy – is when underlying tissues in the face or neck are tightened, excess skin is removed and fat and muscles are repositioned to reduce signs of ageing.
In the videos, Pamela explained why she had chosen Thailand for her procedure, saying: “I just talked to someone who had had the procedure done.
“Her results were amazing, and I thought, ‘she loved the treatment she had.’
“‘She loved the people, the staff and [they were] very friendly.’”
Although she admitted she was “a bit anxious” before the surgery, she was delighted with the results, even after just one week.
In a clip on day seven of her recovery, she advised viewers: “Don’t wait, I’ve been waiting since 2019, it’s now 2025.
“My only regret is I didn’t do it sooner.”
She said her total surgery and care came to AU$21,000 (£10,000) and it would have cost her three times that amount back home in Australia.
Pamela added: “I had my stitches out on the seventh day. My healing’s good. It was very uncomfortable the first few days.
“I still have a lot of swelling, I still have the tightness but once you get the stitches out, a lot of the tightness goes.
“And as long as I do my massaging and just look after your skin, I can’t speak highly enough of the way I’ve been treated by the staff in the hospital, my recovery at the hotel.
“Every day I look, I can see the results.”
In 2024, around 9,000 surgical facelifts were performed in Thailand – about 1.2 per cent of the 737,028 procedures carried out worldwide that year, the majority of which took place in the United States.
The Asian country is famous globally for plastic surgery, particularly for medical tourists seeking cosmetic procedures at more affordable prices.
When choosing a medical procedure, you should check the surgeon has certification from a recognised board, which proves formal training in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
What is facelift?
A FACELIFT is typically done under general anaesthetic. It may sometimes be performed using a local anaesthetic and sedation.
- The surgeon makes small incisions starting at the temples, just above the hairline, extending down in front of the ears, around the earlobes, and behind the ears.
- If the jawline is being tightened or lifted, an additional incision may be made beneath the chin.
- Any excess facial skin is carefully removed.
- The remaining skin is gently repositioned upward and backward, then secured with fine sutures to achieve a smoother contour.
- In some cases, facial fat and underlying tissue are redistributed or additional fat is grafted to enhance volume and balance.
- The face is then bandaged to help reduce swelling and bruising during recovery.
