A COUPLE have revealed that they ditched life in the UK and moved to Thailand.
Now, Roshni Ward, 30, and her fiancé Louis Hunt, 33, pay just £300 a month for rent, which includes a gym with a swimming pool.
But that’s not all, as the British expats, who once shared a flat in Rye, East Sussex, now have a shockingly cheap water bill thanks to the affordable way of living in Chiang Mai, the largest city in northern Thailand.
Posting on social media, the couple shared a breakdown of their cost of living in Thailand per month, leaving many stunned.
First things first, Roshni, who works as a UGC content creator and Louis, who earns a living as an online fitness coach, confirmed that their rent is just £300 a month.
The couple shared: “Our condo includes a gym and pool so we don’t have these direct debits coming out anymore.”

When it comes to water, their monthly bill is sure to leave you gobsmacked.
The couple, who work remotely, confirmed that they pay only £2.76 a month for water, as they added: “We’re still in shock about this one.”
Additionally, where electricity is concerned, the couple pay just £44 a month, which they think is “incredible.”
The youngsters, who plan on staying in Thailand “for good,” acknowledged their joy at the low electricity bill, as they shared: “We have one aircon unit on for at least eight to nine hours a night every night without fail.”
Next, a large expense for the couple is their expat health insurance, which costs them a joint total of £110.78 per month.
The couple also spend £60 a month on transport and rely on GrabTaxi, a popular taxi service in Thailand, which they use “quite frequently.”
Finally, where food is concerned, the couple confirmed that they typically spend around £300/£350 in total a month for the two of them.
But they don’t just spend cash on groceries – this cost ensures that they can eat meals out most days of the week.
They revealed: “This includes smoothie bowls and dinner out most days as well as food shopping and takeaways.”
How easy is it to move abroad?
Brexit means British citizens now have to apply for visas to move to countries within the EU. While some countries residency restrictions are easier than others, here’s what you need to do at home before moving:
- Notify HMRC about your upcoming move.
- Let your local authority know and provide a forwarding address.
- Contact your mortgage and utility providers and bank before leaving.
- If you have paid enough UK national insurance contributions, you can qualify for a state pension abroad – contact the International Pension Centre.
- You can sign up to the Royal Mail’s redirection service.
- If you have outstanding student loans, contact the Student Loans Centre.
- If you have children, give due notice to childcares and schools.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @earth_footsteps, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 118,200 views.
Social media users were gobsmacked at the “amazing” prices, so much so that many were eager to relocate and move to Thailand too.
