GOOGLEBOX fans have called one of the show’s new stars a “nepo-sister”, after finding out she has a celebrity sibling.
The latest series of the smash hit Channel 4 show welcomed five brand-new families and one of the new stars has a very famous brother – can you guess who it is?
When the new series got underway fans got to meet Sara, 87, and her daughter-in-law, Lara, 57.
Fans have now worked out that one of them has a VERY famous brother.
It turns out that Lara is the older sister of TV adventurer Bear Grylls.
In fact, it was her that gave her little brother the nickname Bear.
The star connection doesn’t stop there, as their late father Sir Michael Grylls was knighted by the late Queen in 1992.
But now Lara is having her own moment in the spotlight on Gogglebox.
However, it seems not all fans are keen on her “nepo-sister” roots.
Posting a clip of TikTok of the duo, a viewer wrote: “Controversial opinion, but it does help to get chosen to go on Gogglebox if your brother is Bear Grylls.”
Fans rushed to give their verdict on Lara being Bear’s sister, with one writing: “Helps to have a showbiz connection.”
Another felt that a star’s sister shouldn’t be on the show, and said: “Its not what Gogglebox was about.
Speaking about another “nepo” connection, this one added: “It’s the same way being related to the Chuckle Brothers helped Sophie and Pete get on the show .”
NEW CAST
Lara and Sara joined four other new families on season 26 of Gogglebox, which started in September.
The hugely successful series is now in its thirteenth year and often sees the line-up change.
Previously speaking about the new families, Mike Cotton, Creative Director, for Studio Lambert said: ”It’s a delight to welcome some new households to the Gogglebox family.
“Along with our much loved returning cast, we can’t wait to join them in their living rooms and hear their candid thoughts on this week’s most talked about TV.”
They joined regular Goggleboxers Jenny and Lee, The Siddiquis, The Malones, Giles and Mary, Ellie and Izzi, David and Shirley, the Plummers, Amira and Amani and the Worthingtons.
As well as Pete and Sophie, Abbie and Georgia, Sue and Steve, Simon and Jane, Ronnie and Annie, Danielle and Daniella, Teresa and Anita and Michael, Sally, Jake and Harry who also returned.
SAYING GOODBYE
It comes after one Gogglebox couple were axed from the hit series after three years on-screen.
The Scotland-based pair, who signed up for the hit Channel 4 show in 2022, gave their take on the nation’s telly from their stunning seaside home.
Yet Roisin Kelly, 26, and Joe Kyle, 28, who moved in together at the beginning of lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic, have revealed they’ll no longer be on screen.
Roisin posted a lengthy statement to her social media page, describing their Gogglebox stint as “so mad” while admitting they were “grateful”.
She wrote: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26.
“Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family.
“We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights!”
