The old Kop was knocked down in January 2023 and replaced with a temporary stand as Wrexham progressed up the football pyramid.

Those seats were taken down towards the end of last season, making way to allow machinery into the stadium where a new pitch was laid.

The Red Dragons have since negotiated and completed a land purchase from Wrexham University to create space for the Kop.

But the club will be limited in how many seats it can use in the new stand.

That is because national planning policy will restrict Wrexham to using 5,500 seats in the Kop.

However that could increase to 7,500 once Wrexham County Borough approve a planning application to further increase the occupancy.

That would see the capacity of the Racecourse Ground top 18,000.

And they will not stop there, with Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney eyeing ambitious plans to increase the capacity to 55,000.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star McElhenney said: “We have a plan in place right now that would eventually work from stand to stand.

“So eventually, you get all four sides, and it’s hard to say for sure, but we think we could get between 45,000 and 55,000 people in there.”
