Tesco launches new meal deal snack branded ‘Aussie gold’ in global supermarket first

TESCO shoppers now have a new meal deal snack option which has been branded “Aussie Gold”.

Sweet-toothed Brits have been getting all excited about Australia’s most iconic chocolate biscuit the Tim Tam ever since it came to these shores in 2024.

Responding to fans’ demands for a more on-the-go option, the brand has now launched its first ever Twin Pack as a global supermarket first, reports the Retail Times.

The chocolately treat has now launched as a snack as part of the Tesco Meal Deal or on its own in selected Tesco Express stores.

So now busy office workers can enjoy the snack-sized packs while on the move during their lunch break or even as a little pick-me-up on the commute home.

The Tim Tam Twin Pack Original launched on October 26, priced at £1 or as part of Tesco’s Meal Deals as a snack option.

SPELLS TROUBLE

Famous magic shop loved by Derren Brown is shutting forever after 48 years

Amber Dutkiewicz, Tim Tam market development manager for the UK & Ireland, said: “Tim Tam has proven to be incredibly popular in the UK since our launch last year, and the demand to have Tim Tam in an on-the-go format has been strong.

“We are excited to offer the opportunity to enjoy Tim Tam in a travel-friendly, snack size two biscuit pack format that is also available in the iconic Tesco Meal Deal.”

The move comes after Tesco launched its brand-new Festive Meal Deal range, featuring a mix of returning favourites and new options.

Prices start at £3.00, with a festive Meal Deal available for £3.85 with a Clubcard or £4.25 without the Clubcard.

Shoppers can also opt for the Premium Meal Deal, which includes a premium main plus a side and drink from £5.50 with a Clubcard (£6 without).

Tesco is also spreading goodwill through its partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.

For every Tesco Festive Meal Deal bought with a Coca-Cola drink, 20p will be donated to FareShare, helping to provide meals for people and communities in need across the UK.

In August, Tesco hiked the price of its lunchtime meal deal by 25p.

How to save money at Tesco

EVERY little helps when it comes to saving money at Tesco.

The Sun’s Head of Consumer Tara Evans explains how you can save money at the UK’s biggest supermarket.

Clubcard points

Tesco first launched it’s loyalty scheme back in 1995. You get one point for every £1 you spend in store. If you spend points in store then 100 points is worth £1. You can spend your points via its reward partners and get triple and even sometimes quadruple the value.

Extend Clubcard points

You can find lost Clubvcard points and find the last two years of unused vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard site.

Clubcard prices

If you don’t have a Clubcard then you will miss out on its cheaper Clubcard prices. However, don’t forget to check prices before you shop because it might not be cheaper than elsewhere, especially on big value items like washing powder and loo roll.

Yellow stickers

Shops do vary the time they reduce groceries with yellow stickers but Tesco tends to be between 7pm and 9pm.

Save money if you shop online

If you get your Tesco food shop delivered then it might be worth buying a delivery saver pass to help cut the cost of delivery fees.

If you live near a Tesco then you can get click and collect slots of as little as 25p, so it might be cheaper than getting your food delivered.

Tesco’s lunchtime meal deal is hugely popular for its variety of choices, including sandwiches, wraps and sushi selections for the main options, snacks of crisps, chocolate and fruit, and drinks such as Lucozade and cold coffee.

Other supermarkets offer similar deals, and have also sparked fury over price hikes.
