Carragher, 47, was keen to join the Germans in the away end for the Champions League clash.

However, the Daily Mail have claimed that he was stopped by Uefa and Man City.

The report suggests that there was concern that allowing him in would “prove incendiary”.

Carragher has previously joined Dortmund fans on Champions League nights.

He was part of the yellow wall at the Signal Iduna Park in the semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain in 2024.

And he was reunited with the fans as he marched with them from Manchester city centre to the Etihad.

The former Premier League star was working the game against the Cityzens as a pundit for CBS Sports.

But the application from the US broadcaster to watch from the stands among the Germans was rejected by Uefa and Man City.

The report has added that both Uefa and Man City were “quick to issue” rebuttals.

It is said that Uefa’s view on the matter is that a pundit’s media credentials do not allow them to swap the press area for a seat in the stands.

City are believed to have been against the idea of allowing a Reds icon into the away end and that it could “have caused a problem”.

During his time on the march, Carragher was spotted wearing a Dortmund scarf and singing songs in support of the Bundesliga side.

He was also handed beers and held a yellow flare to the sky.

Speaking about the experience, he told CBS Sports: “It’s been fantastic.

“We had a great walk in from Manchester city centre to the ground.

“They’re enjoying themselves, they’re looking forward to the game and a little bit worried about Erling Haaland.

“But they’ve got their own man up front in (Serhou) Guirassy who we think might be able to cause a problem or two.

“They’re in full flight and hopefully by the end of the game they’re going to really enjoy themselves and I might join them.”

For Carragher and Dortmund, there would be no celebrations as Man City ran riot.
