Brit rock band forced to cancel string of UK gigs just hours before they’re due on stage

A SOUTH Yorkshire rock band has cancelled shows for two weekends in a row, blaming ill health.

The Sherlocks, who have toured with the likes of Oasis’ Liam Gallagher and Kaiser Chiefs, announced they were cancelling their show in Stoke, just hours before taking to the stage.

“We’re gutted to say this weekend’s shows are also postponed,” the band wrote in a statement on Instagram.

The statement said that lead singer Kiaran Crook was “still recovering” and “wants to make sure his voice is back to 100% before getting back on stage.”

“It’s been a tough few days and we hate letting anyone down,” the statement continued.

The band said their fans’ support “means the world” and that they “looked forward to starting the tour next week.”

The Here Comes the Rain Band were due to play gigs in Dover and Liverpool this weekend.

Their announcement followed a similar post the weekend before that declared “illness has hit the Sherlocks’ camp hard.”

They cancelled shows in Chester and Wolverhampton.

The Sherlocks released their fifth studio album, Everything Must Make Sense, earlier this year.

In 2017, the band made headlines when a mega fan managed to blag his way backstage by changing the band’s Wikipedia page to pretend he was one their cousins.

A-level media student Adam, from Crewe, said: “I cannot believe it worked. I was expecting to be kicked out for trying.

“The Wikipedia idea came about due to my frustration of not being able to see any of the supporting band and worrying if I’d have the same problem with The Sherlocks when they came on.

“Because we were next to the bar downstairs, I looked up and saw the VIP entrance and told my friends ‘I’m going to try and get up there’ but they were calling me an idiot and saying I wouldn’t get in.

“Regardless I went up, made my way to the area, and realised I had no way of actually getting in. I needed an excuse, a reason to be let in.

“I don’t know how the idea climbed to the top of all the other drunken ones I was probably having then, but it came to me to change their Wiki page so I was included in it.”
