JOEY Mawson’s parents have broken their silence after their racing driver son was accused of raping a nurse at Michael Schumacher’s Swiss mansion.
Mawson, 29, is alleged to have twice raped one of Schumacher’s nurses while she was unconscious during a cocktail party at the F1 icon’s Gland estate in 2019.
The Aussie denies the charge, insisting the encounter was consensual and claiming the pair had previously shared a kiss at a Geneva nightclub.
His parents, Troy and Betty Mawson, have since broken their silence, saying their son would fight to clear his name.
They said Joey “has every intention to front court and will fight to clear his name,” and slammed the accusations as a “set up.”
The family declined to discuss the ongoing legal case but questioned why the alleged attack only surfaced three years later, the Daily Mail reported.
A criminal complaint was filed in 2022, after the nurse was reportedly dismissed from her role on Schumacher’s medical team.
Mawson was due to appear in court in Nyons on October 15 but failed to show, sparking speculation over his whereabouts.
His current location is unclear, though he is believed to be in Australia.
According to prosecutors, the incident took place inside Schumacher’s palatial home on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Court documents state that on the night of November 23, 2019, Mawson was playing pool with two members of Schumacher’s staff when the nurse joined them after finishing a shift.
After several vodka cocktails, she reportedly began feeling unwell and was taken to bed by her colleagues.
They said they left her “without undressing her” and switched the lights on before leaving the room.
Prosecutors allege Mawson later returned and raped her twice while she was unconscious.
Neither of the other medics present that night reported seeing or hearing anything, and the nurse later woke up with no memory of events.
Mawson reportedly visited Gland last year to speak with legal officials, though his trial was adjourned in his absence.
Mawson’s case remains under judicial investigation, with a new trial date yet to be confirmed.
Reports stress that no members of the Schumacher family are implicated in the alleged incident.
The nurse had been part of the medical team caring for the seven-time world champion, who has remained out of public view since his catastrophic 2013 skiing accident.
Michael Schumacher, now 56, continues to receive round-the-clock care at his Lake Geneva home under the supervision of his wife Corinna.
A recent report by French journalist Stéfan L’Hermitt suggested there were “good signs” regarding Schumacher’s health, though details remain closely guarded.
Once a rising talent in international motorsport, Mawson raced against Mick Schumacher, Lando Norris, and George Russell early in his career.
He went on to win back-to-back S5000 Championship titles in 2021 and 2022 after returning to Australia.
In 2023, he was banned from racing for three years after testing positive for a banned supplement.
Mawson said it was an “honest mistake” and blamed a supplement recommended by his girlfriend.
“I will have to pay the consequences of that mistake, losing three years of my career along with the damage to my reputation,” he said in a statement.
“I wish to return to racing again after May 13th 2026.”
