Moment ex-Man City star Ederson is pelted with cups by fuming Besiktas fans before he tries to VOLLEY one back at them

FORMER Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was pelted with cups during a stormy Istanbul derby over the weekend.

And the Brazilian, 32, even tried to boot one back into the stand where it came from.

Ederson quit City for Fenerbahce in September following eight sparkling years with Pep Guardiola‘s side.

The six-time Premier League champion was benched for James Trafford at the start of this season, then left the Etihad following Gianluigi Donnarumma‘s arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.

In just his eighth game for Fenerbahce, Ederson was given his first taste of a fiery derby match against Besiktas away from home.

As the stopper stood with the ball in his hands late on, cups rained down on him from the stand behind the goal.

In footage captured from the crowd, Ederson could be seen gesticulating towards the referee and shrugging his shoulders in disgust.

At one point, Ederson even tried to volley one of the cups away.

The keeper would have the last laugh, however, with his team grabbing a priceless 3-2 win.

El Bilal Toure got Besiktas, who sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this season, off to a perfect start by scoring on just five minutes.

Emirhan Topcu then doubled the home side’s advantage 22 minutes into the contest.

Things turned moments later, however, when Orkun Kokcu was sent off for Besiktas following a VAR check.

Solskjaer’s replacement Sergen Yalcin was then also red carded for his protestations.

With the crowd whipped into a frenzy, an ugly incident occurred just shy of the half hour.

As former Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa star Marco Asensio went over to take a corner, he appeared to be struck by an object from the crowd.

The winger went down holding his head, as another bottle narrowly missed him.

Thankfully, Asensio was soon back on his feet and able to continue.

And moments later, Fenerbahce had a lifeline through Ismail Yuksek’s goal.

Somewhat poetically, it was then Asensio who levelled just shy of half time.

With a man advantage, Fenerbahce pushed for a winner during the second half.

And it eventually came on 83 minutes via ex-Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

Following the final whistle, Fenerbahce stars passionately celebrated their huge triumph.

Ederson could be seen looking particularly delighted as he revelled in the victory.
