Reform’s Nigel Farage will promise to deliver Brexit Britain voted for insisting economic freedoms have been squandered

NIGEL Farage will today vow to deliver the Brexit that Britain voted for — warning its economic freedoms have been squandered.

The Reform boss will use a speech to set out a tougher line on spending and the economy.

Mr Farage will also take a swipe at the Prime Minister by saying the country is being “led by human rights lawyers, not entrepreneurs”.

In his City of London speech, he will accuse the “political class who are not business people” of wasting Brexit.

He will say: “The truth is we have not taken advantage of the opportunities to deregulate and become more competitive.

“In fact, regulations and regulators in many areas are worse than back in 2016. And this applies in every sector.”

Mr Farage will vow to “reduce the size of the bloated state” and bring in “people with real expertise” to run government departments, not career politicians “shuttled off” from one job to another.

He will also say: “We are the pro-business party. We will reduce regulation and the power of the regulators. We’ll make Britain a competitive, good place to invest and live.

“But I know we can only cut taxes once the deficit is under control. Above all, we will be reasonable, responsible and realistic.”

It comes after Reform was accused of making “fantasy promises” with costly pledges that left experts calling out a multibillion-pound black hole in its spending plans.

Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride said: “It’s impossible to take Reform seriously on the economy when their promises disintegrate after five minutes.”

And a Labour spokesman said: “We’ve seen from the councils Reform run they’ve failed to deliver the savings they promised and are cutting services and raising taxes.”
