A DANCE question on tonight’s episode of Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel was so tough even Strictly’s Shirley Ballas got it wrong.
A contestant named Gordon was on the receiving end of the killer question, which left everyone in the room completely baffled.
Once the wheel landed on Gordan, Michael McIntyre delivered the question: “In tap dance, a ‘step, shuffle, jump’ is known as what?”.
The four answer choices were A. Buffalo, B. Elephant, C. Penguin, or D. Gazelle.
After some contemplation, Gordon reluctantly went forward with C, before learning his answer was incorrect.
The studio’s lights dipped into red, and the rest of the show’s members turned to Shirley to ask her why the correct answer was the term used in tap dance.
But Shirley didn’t have a clue.
“Why is it [that]?,” Michael bluntly asked her while the rest of the contestants waited.
“I’ve got absolutely no idea, I picked gazelle,” Shirley replied.
“All elegance and beautiful.”
Another contestant said they now felt “fabulous” because at least Shirley got the question wrong too.
Fans of the programme thought the question was incredibly tough and didn’t even blame Shirley for getting it incorrect, despite her spending years as Strictly’s head judge.
Though one X user said: “How embarrassing that Shirley Ballas doesn’t know what [the answer is].”
Viewers at home got the answer wrong too, with many of them taking to X to share their answers.
“No idea. Gazelle, I suppose,” said one user.
Thought the tap dance question would be penguin purely on the basis of how the main character in Happy Feet tap dances,” shared another.
It turns out that the answer was buffalo, much to everyone’s confusion.
But a user on X explained why the term came about to try help clear up some of the confusion.
“I’m sure thousands of others are tweeting too – it’s called a Buffalo as the steps make the sound of the railroad to Buffalo!”.
