HAVING hosted naked nuns and topless female Beefeater-imitators, Crazy Horse seems a rather unusual play-spot for a “nerdy” Prime Minister.
And Star Wars-adoring former Canada leader Justin Trudeau seemed rather sheepish as he was led out of the notorious Parisian cabaret club alongside pop star partner Katy Perry recently.
They were celebrating the Firework hitmaker’s 41st birthday at the raunchy venue, which once allowed completely naked female performances and outrageous acts.
That included the nude nuns that were banned due to public outrage as well as recent performers with stage names like Betty Buttocks.
Yet Justin and Katy aren’t alone, it’s beloved by swarms of stars – including Kelly Brook, Pamela Anderson, Blackpink’s Lisa and Dita von Teese, who have all performed there.
And A-listers aplenty visit ranging from Kim Kardashian to Scarlett Johansson, Sharon Stone, Rihanna, Johnny Depp, Madonna, Mick Jagger and hundreds more.
Famous faces are like a moth to the flame when it comes to finding the most scandalous, debaucherous and hedonistic haunts across the globe.
Here we reveal some of the most salacious celebrity playspots and the outrageous things they have often got away with inside.
Cocaine paradise & loo sex
Despite having straight-laced brainbox Stephen Fry as a founding member and in charge of drafting the celebrity private members club’s rules, the Groucho Club was a hotbed of naughtiness.
From celebs constantly ‘powdering their noses’ with cocaine to writer Toby Young reportedly being booted out after getting caught in a clinch with a Princess Diana lookalike in the loos, it was wild.
The Cool Britannia era in the 90s heralded some of the most unruly behaviour including Liam Gallagher allegedly being ejected for smashing a window.
Shark-dissecting artist Damien Hurst once doused a fellow reveller’s chest hair with whiskey and set it on fire, leading to an A&E trip.
The hellraiser also urinated in an ice tray but didn’t tell anyone and put his £25,000 Turner Prize money behind the bar.
Cocaine was so rife there the snooker room was renamed the “Peruvian Procurement Department” – despite there being a strict no-drugs policy that once saw Lily Allen kicked out.
Other booze-loving revellers included Kate Moss, Blur’s Alex James, Sienna Miller, Courtney Love and Keith Allen – who regularly got “publicly loaded” at the bar.
Modern stars who have popped in to party too included Rita Ora, Harry Styles, Noel Fielding and Jonathan Creek’s Alan Davies, who was bizarrely once caught on CCTV biting a homeless man’s ear after a wild night.
U2 once sang Happy Christmas to Bill Clinton in there, Madonna was asked to leave for being rude to staff and Al Pacino was once turned away due to looking so disheveled that the bouncer didn’t recognise him and thought he was living on the streets.
Even the name ‘Groucho Club’ became a byword for debauchery, so much so that manager Bernie Katz said: “If those walls could talk, I’d be out of a job.”
A-list hook-up hotspot
With an equally legendary reputation across the pond is the infamous hotel and bar Chateau Marmont, which has remained the playground of hedonism-loving hellraisers for decades.
Apocalypse Now star Dennis Hopper allegedly staged a 50-woman orgy there and Lindsay Lohan was banned after failing to pay a £35,000 bill from a 47-day stay.
The Mean Girls actress racked up 16 pages worth of expenses including £2,400 mini bar charges including £150 in one day alone, in excess of £380 on cigarettes, £75 on a fancy candle and two iPhone chargers costing £30 a time.
GQ held their 2010 Men of the Year Awards at Chateau Marmont and winner David Arquette was so eager for a drink he climbed through a window to save walking to the bar.
And Johnny Depp claimed to have sex with Kate Moss in all 63 of the hotel’s rooms during a turbulent love affair that allegedly consisted of fighting and sex on repeat.
“They can’t keep their hands, lips, mouths, legs off of each other,” a friend of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor told People Magazine in 1994.
But some would say it was the A-list old guard who were some of the wildest – including late Harry Potter actor Richard Harris, who was banned for life after drunkenly banging on guests’ doors and yelling that a nuclear bomb had been dropped.
Led Zeppelin were so bad they were moved to a bungalow away from the main building due to constantly ferrying naked groupies between rooms on stolen food carts and their constant demands for more alcohol from room service.
Doors frontman Jim Morrison claimed he lost “eight of my nine lives” courtesy of the venue, because he fell four storeys while trying to jump from the roof to his hotel window while high on drugs. He suffered a lasting back injury.
Nudity was a big issue too – allegedly rockstar Alice Cooper and his roadies were famed for playing football naked in the lobby and Pink Floyd went skinny dipping so often the hotel received complaints.
‘Dancefloor orgies’ & ‘Satan’s playroom’
Famed for orgies breaking out on the dancefloor, revellers dancing naked and an excess of drugs, Germany’s Berghain is one of the world’s wildest party spots – and a surprising number of celebs frequent the venue.
Due to the outlandish antics that occur inside, there are extremely strict rules including stickers being placed over phone cameras and hopeful partygoers heavily vetted.
And it’s perhaps that reason why it’s adored by famous folk. One attendee spotted Harry Styles there and said: “Everybody left him alone because no one cares in Berlin.”
There’s a very strict guest list and the normal queue has a wait time of over 1 hour 45 minutes – even then thrill-seekers still may not get in if they fail the bouncers’ famous ‘vibe check’.
It was claimed that the world’s richest man Elon Musk was turned away, as was Britney Spears, proving that even high-end celebs may not make the cut and for good reason.
Reporter Gavin Fernando, who made it inside, claims the scenes were like “if Satan owned his own playroom”.
He saw naked dancers and orgies break out on the dancefloor, adding: “There’s no mistaking the drug zombies who’ve likely been jerking their arms and legs on a loop since the previous night.”
‘Beautiful prison’
From British royal Princess Diana and Hollywood royalty Jayne Mansfield, Brazil’s Copacabana Palace Bar has long been beloved by celebs from across the gamut.
It’s known for hosting “very VIPs” and has a “Golden Book” featuring the names of A-list visitors including Madonna, Justin Bieber, Robert De Niro and Miley Cyrus.
But the Rio de Janeiro celeb hotspot also has a wilder side that’s rarely been spoken of due to the venue’s utter-discreet staff.
One of few stories to emerge include hitmaker Janis Joplin going skinny dipping there, just a month before joining the ‘27 club’ when she died from a drugs overdose in 1970.
It was also said to be the launchpad for notorious hellraisers the Rolling Stones and adored by Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.
Sex symbol and actress Jayne described it as: “A beautiful prison where you can only be watched by the angels on the ceiling.”
£1.9m bar bill
Les Caves du Roy in Saint-Tropez is beloved by stars like Naomi Campbell, P Diddy, Paris Hilton, and Bono.
With bottles of Cristal Champagne running about £1,400 a time, you can see why they want to promote their famous “champagne spraying contests”.
Paris Hilton once allegedly splashed £100,000 there in one night at the Rio de Janeiro spot but that’s far from the worst.
Billionaires Zhen Low and Winston Fisher once ended the evening with a staggering bill of £1.9million after an East vs West competition got out of hand – with Zhen representing the former and taking the bragging rights.
The club was no stranger to con artists impersonating famous people to get free parties and champagne at one point either.
But thanks to a heavy security presence, drunk tourists and cheeky celeb-impersonating tricksters were kept far away from the big spenders.
Celeb ‘haven’
Hollywood haunt Les Deux was so popular among A-list circles that it was dubbed Central Perk after the fictional coffee house from the TV show Friends.
The former club served as a regular spot for celebrities like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan in the mid-Noughties.
The Hit Me Baby One More Time hitmaker even asked to fill out a job application in 2007, motivated by her appreciation for the waitresses’ uniforms and her desire to escape the dogged paparazzi.
She was not the only one to find a home at Les Deux either. Paris made it one of her first stops after serving time in jail for drink-driving in 2006.
And not to miss out on all the fun, Lindsay partied there just before her own DUI incident in the very same year.
However, the club’s safe haven status was just as fake as some of the stars it attracted because lurking within the rooms was an eager gang of looters waiting to strike.
The so-called Bling Ring burgled about £2.2million from the homes of Paris, Lindsay, and others, after two of the ringleaders met while partying at Les Deux.
£38k poker games
The Viper Room nestled at the heart of Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard had an array of tragic moments and shocking celebrity tales.
The most famous was River Phoenix, who died aged 23 from a fatal amount of cocaine and heroin – known as a ‘speedball’ – in 1993.
Drugs were rife there, with some close calls. Jason Donovan overdosed during Kate Moss’s 21st birthday, so did Courtney Love, who had to be revived by Johnny Depp.
In the 2000s, the club was at the centre of an illegal high-stakes A-list poker ring where businessmen splashed up to £75million-a-night.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Tobey Maguire were regular frequenters of the off-the-books card games that had buy-ins ranging from £7,500 to £38,000.
Molly Bloom, known as “poker princess” due to running the underground games, told us Spider-Man star Tobey brought A-listers along “to lure big players”.
She added: “Wealthy people wanted to buy the experience. Hanging out with celebrities – they get to brag about this for years.”
The card shark, whose life story was turned into 2018 blockbuster Molly’s Game, later saw her life turned upside down.
By 2011, Molly’s flat was raided by the FBI to confiscate her ill-gotten gambling assets. She managed to dodge a 10-year jail sentence by paying £90,000 in compensation and agreeing to hand back £750,000 to the taxman.
Nowadays the club seems to attract paranormal investigators, with both Ghost Adventures and BuzzFeed Unsolved filming episodes within the club’s walls.
‘Money-gun parties’
Crazy Horse 3, which was unaffiliated to the Paris venue, is perfectly worthy of Sin City’s notorious reputation.
And stars including Carmen Electra, Farrah Abraham, and Kevin Federline, who celebrated his 40th there, gleefully passed through its doors.
Britney’s ex Kevin and his wife Victoria Prince had their own VIP area there and regularly would ‘make it rain’ showering scantily clad strippers with dollar bills from a money gun.
That’s not all this sleazy spot is known for – they regularly try to cash in with cheeky stunts and host a number of adult actresses.
Even after Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement, the couple were offered a joint hen and stag do for free, with unlimited champagne and hundreds of dancers. Unsurprisingly, the couple haven’t publicly responded to the ‘kind’ offer.
And now the establishment has a deal called ‘Strippers Against Shutdowns’, which offers a free lap dance to unpaid and furloughed government workers during the US government shutdown.
