FANS have demanded that a former Premier League goalkeeper be played UP FRONT after his bullet header against Real Madrid.
Gavin Bazunu found himself in nosebleed territory in Southampton U21’s clash with Real Madrid.
The young Saints were taken on Los Blancos’ kids in the Premier League International Cup at St Mary’s.
Thiago Pitarch looked to have given the Spanish side the win as he found the net in the 76th minute to break the deadlock.
But Bazunu played a key role in the late drama in the game.
Southampton earned a corner in the dying moments, and the goalkeeper got the all clear to surge into the box.
Bazunu made his towering figure count as he won the ball and his bullet header seemed destined for the goal.
It cannoned off the bar but into the path of Abdulhalim Okonola, who was able to scramble the ball home for a late equaliser.
But the talk on social media was fans hailing the heading ability of Bazunu.
One posted: “Stick him up front now.”

A second wrote: “That’s a better header than any of our forwards have managed this season. Sadly, I’m not joking.”
A third commented: “Bazunu has to start up front Saturday.”
A fourth said: “Incredible header from Baz.”
Another added: “Bazunu better with his head than his hands – who knew.”
Bazunu, 23, joined Southampton back in 2022 after coming through the ranks at Manchester City in a £12million deal.
He had built up a reputation as a promising stopper after loan spells at Rochdale and Portsmouth.
But he struggled to recapture that form at St Mary’s and has often been alternated with veteran Alex McCarthy.
Under manager Will Still this season he has only made six appearances out of 12 games in the Championship.
He has kept one clean sheet and conceded nine goals.
