Safi Dawood, 22, has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon.

The triple stabbing in Midhurst Gardens also left a 14-year-old boy with injuries and a man, 45, with “life-changing injuries”.

The Home Office confirmed the suspect entered the UK clandestinely via lorry in 2020 and was granted asylum and leave to remain in 2022.

Police and emergency services raced to the scene on Monday after being alerted by terrified residents.

It is understood Wayne had tried to intervene in an altercation when he was attacked.

A vigil took place on Tuesday evening as crowds laid flowers and lit candles for the victims following the horror attack.

A neighbour in Uxbridge claimed the man who died was a bin man, describing him as “the last person on Earth that you would think somebody would go for”.

“He’s a bin man. I’ve been here two years and would see him walk past the window,” she said.

“I still can’t get over it. If he was five or 10 minutes later taking the dog out would the same thing have happened?”

She added she had taken flowers and a box of shortbread over to his wife and said “he was just doing the normal dog walk that he does every day”.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those impacted by this horrific incident.

“We are receiving regular updates from the Metropolitan Police. The priority must now be for the police to investigate so those responsible can be brought to justice.”
