
A BUSINESSMAN has been charged with the alleged murder of his wife after she died in hospital with stab wounds in a serious home assault.
Michele Kennedy, 55, was badly assaulted at a home in Warrington, Cheshire two weeks ago.
Five days later, the “much-loved daughter, mother, sister, auntie and nana” died in hospital on Saturday, October 18.
She was found by police with serious injuries at a home in Woolston, Warrington following reports of an incident shortly after 4pm on Monday, October 13.
An air ambulance took Michele – who worked as a security guard and hairdresser – to Aintree Hospital.
Her husband Gavin Shaw, 61, was arrested and has been charged with murder after previously being charged with attempted murder in relation to the incident.
Michele’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers, released statements in tribute following her death.
“She was a larger-than-life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her, who would help anyone, was beautiful, strong, fearless and one of a kind.
“The loss of her life has left a massive hole in our family, and we know that her friends and colleagues who were involved in her life will feel the same.
“We would like to offer our extended thanks to all the emergency services that attended the scene any any kind person that tried to help. We will miss her very much.”
The family have asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Michele’s death came just two weeks after she had returned home from a holiday in Turkey with a female friend.
In a Facebook post, Michele previously called Shaw a “wonderful husband” and “the best”.
In a comment about Shaw, who runs a tiling business, she wrote: “I do love him, the best xxx.”
Th 61-year-old business man can be seen with a tattoo on his right arm that says “Michele”.
Following her death, a statement from Cheshire police read: “Preliminary results from a Home Office post-mortem examination have indicated that Michele died as a result of stab wounds.
“Gavin Shaw was previously been charged attempted murder in relation to the incident.”
Shaw appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 15 October, and remains in custody.
Wearing a grey jumper, he confirmed his full name, date of birth, and address but was not asked to enter a plea.
He is due to appear at Chester Crown Court next on Wednesday, November 12.
