A HOST of much-loved motors have been discontinued in 2025 and won’t make it into the new year – while others are approaching the end of their production runs.
From iconic sports cars to popular family runarounds, these are the models that won’t be ringing in the fast-approaching New Year…
Ford Focus
Production of the Ford Focus is set to end in November – after a hugely successful 27-year run.
The Blue Oval is shifting its focus to EVs, meaning the Saarlouis plant in Germany, where every Focus has been made, will be putting an end to Focus production within the next few weeks.
In fact, the end of the road has already come for the Focus ST hot hatchback, with the final example of the iconic, sporty model rolling off the assembly line back in September.
No confirmed replacement for the Focus has been lined up, but Ford is developing new, smaller electric cars that could revive familiar names in the future – including the much-missed Fiesta.
Citroen C5 X
Earlier this year, Stellantis decided to drop Citroen’s spacious C5 X, a sort of mix between a saloon, estate and SUV, after poor sales and only three years on the market.
Indeed, right-hand-drive production ended in May 2025.
Despite its good value, spacious interior and focus on passenger comfort – making it an all-round perfect family motor – it couldn’t quite match the efforts of premium German executive motors, like the BMW X3.
As a result, it sold very poorly in Europe – although it has done much better in China.
Citroen will now focus on the C5 Aircross SUV instead.
Kia Ceed
Kia, one of the UK’s best-selling brands in 2025, is big on producing stylish, cost-effective EVs.
And that means the Ceed, which is perhaps best remembered as the “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” on Top Gear from 2010 to 2013, needed to make way after being sold in the UK for nearly 20 years – with the hatchback, Sportswagon and ProCeed models all ending production.
The XCeed crossover continues, however.
Audi Q8 e-tron
This year, Audi ended production of its Q8 e-tron electric SUV – with no new orders taken from February onwards and any outstanding deliveries likely fulfilled by now.
The move also saw the closure of Audi’s Brussels plant – affecting around 3,000 workers.
Despite upgrades over the years, slow demand for luxury EVs contributed to its demise.
Audi A1 and Q2
Audi has been brutal in 2025 as the German marque oversees a transition of sorts.
Going forward, they’re looking to crank up their premium identity while offering fresh ideas and advanced tech, and also implementing a clearer naming system.
The A1 hatchback – a huge seller in the UK – and the Q2 have fallen at the wayside as a result, with both getting the dreaded chop by next year.
Jaguar F-Pace
Jaguar’s aggressive transition has been well-documented, with the British firm removing all of their vehicles from showrooms as they look to become an exclusive, high-end EV manufacturer from 2026.
This begins with a bold electric GT car being readied for the summer of 2026.
As a result, the end of old Jaguar models began when XE, XF and F-Type were culled last summer, with the E-Pace and I-Pace following suit by the end of 2024.
But their biggest seller, the F-Pace SUV, which was initially kept in circulation, is also now being removed from UK showrooms – but will reportedly be offered globally in small numbers until 2026.
BMW Z4
BMW has put the fun and fancy Z4 roadster back in the toy box for good, bringing an end to 30 years of two-seater sports cars in its line-up.
The Z4, last updated in 2018 and built alongside the now-axed Toyota Supra, never quite rivalled the Porsche Boxster – but was praised for its refinement and comfort, particularly in its later generations.
Volvo V90
The end is nigh for the iconic Volvo estate, with the Swedish brand ending production – for real, this time – of the V90.
Despite briefly reversing plans to stop offering estates in the UK, the V90, the Volvo’s largest estate, has been axed for good this time due to low sales.
For now, the smaller V60 estate remains on sale – though its future is uncertain.
As for the final V90, it will be displayed in a museum.
