LIP liners – from longwear to sculpting and staining – have been big news this year.
But I’ve been a fan of the precision pencils for ages and these have stood the test of time.
BUDGET
PS . . . Lip Liner Pencil, 0.9g, 75p, primark.com
Yes, you’ve read that right, these lip liners cost just 75p – which I’m sure makes them the cheapest product I’ve ever featured in my column.
They used to be £1 each, which was still a massive bargain, and while everything else seems to be getting more expensive, Primark has managed to shave 25 per cent off the price.
There are ten shades available, spanning pink, brown, berry and even red – they’re on the stiffer side and drag slightly on skin, but once applied they don’t budge.
I really don’t think a better value beauty product exists.
MID-RANGE
Morphe Soulmatte Filling Gel Lip Liner, 0.21g, £8, boots.com
As a general rule, I prefer pencil lip liners – they’re often slightly harder, so stay on skin longer and also don’t get used up as fast.
Although I do have one pet peeve, you have to sharpen them regularly.
That’s not the end of the world at home, but it’s a pain on the go.
So I keep a twist-up liner in my handbag for reapplication and this is the best one I’ve found – both for value and how it wears.
Because of the gel formula, it glides across skin easily, blends well if you don’t want a harsh line, and the creamy consistency doesn’t dry out lips.
LUXURY
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner, 1.2g, £22, spacenk.com
I’ve lost count of how many of these I’ve gone through over the years.
My ideal nude is Supersize Me, which is a rosy pink shade that’s almost identical to my lip colour, but better.
Although Tilbury’s famous Pillow Talk is also a safe bet if you aren’t sure where to start.
There are 23 shades, so you are guaranteed to find both a perfect match for your lips, and for any lipstick you want to pair it with.
The formula is easy to apply and doesn’t pull at skin – a godsend for fine lines – but also stays put all day (even through multiple cups of tea).
Pick of the Week
IT is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and to raise awareness – and vital funds for breast cancer charities – lots of brands have launched special edition products.
My top pick is the Ghd Pink Sorbet Limited-Edition Collection, from £189.
It features five of its best-selling heat-styling tools in pastel pink, and £10 from every purchase will go to Breast Cancer Now.
