THE Strictly judging panel are facing backlash online for giving one couple such a low score.
Tonight the Strictly cast took to the dance floor for icons week, dressed up as someone in the music industry that they look up to.
But one dance duo faced notably harsh criticism for their number – a jive to Harry Styles‘ popular song As It Was.
George and Alexis lit up the floor in their fun white outfits peppered in red hearts.
Though when it came to receiving their scores, it wasn’t so upbeat.
They received a number of criticisms, most strongly from Craig Revel Horwood.
He said the dance was “a little flat-footed which made it then look a bit stompy”, that they weren’t dancing on beat, and their circle movements went “all horribly wrong”.
To end the stream of harsh feedback on a more positive note, Craig praised the couple’s presentation.
Other members of the panel followed along a similar vein, flooding in with criticisms before adding a lighter end note.
Motsi Mabuse said the dance started well before gradually going downhill, and that it lacked consistency, but George’s two kick spins were great.
The dance overall scored a mere 27 points, placing George and Alexis at the bottom of the leaderboard.
George was the sixth celebrity announced in the 2025 Strictly lineup.
Being a social media star and podcast host, the young man is used to being behind a camera but not used to being on the dance floor.
Fans love him for his upbeat energy, humour and competitive spirit.
But fans fear if he keeps facing such harsh criticisms he could end up in line for elimination.
Viewers of the show took to X tonight to call out the harsh judging, slamming the judges for criticising this couple so much more than the others.
“Why did the judges pick up on every single one of george’s mistakes that the public barely noticed, but then haven’t mentioned vicky and kai’s visible mistake one time ???? this show is angering me tonight,” said an angry fan on X.
Many other viewers simply said George was being underscored – and not for the first time.
“Here’s george being underscored AGAIN,” said one user.
Others echoed this, sharing: “george and alexis criminally underscored! and “george just got severely underscored are you joking me” under the #strictly hashtag.
