TIKTOK star and model Emman Atienza died by suicide at her home in Los Angeles, officials have confirmed.
The 19-year-old would bravely open up to her one million followers online about her mental health struggles before her tragic passing.
Emman’s famous Filipino father, TV host and weatherman Kim Atienza, announced the death of his young daughter on Friday.
The beloved teen had only moved to Los Angeles from the Philippines a few months ago as she dreamed of becoming a top influencer in the US, according to Deadline.
LA is often seen as the hub of America’s brightest social media personalities.
Emman was a popular and growing voice for thousands across the world for her openness and honesty on tricky topics such as mental health and bullying.
On TikTok she boasted over 856,000 followers and had amassed almost 50 million likes.
Her Instagram was also highly popular with her having over 218,000 followers.
She would often speak about her own battles including tackling bipolar disorder and body positivity as well as suicidal thoughts.
In a post on Instagram back in January she said she had “came into 2024 unsure if I even wanted to live”.
In a heartbreaking statement she detailed how she had been struggling since she was 12 years old with the problems “only getting worse as the years passed”.
Emman called her mental health struggles “treatment-resistant”.
But she appeared positive at the end of the post as she wrote: “2024 was a whirlwind of ups and downs, but as I step into 2025, I can’t see a reason not to live.”
A statement by Emman’s mum Feliciana paid tribute to her beloved daughter.
She said: “It’s with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman.
“She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her.
“Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn’t afraid to share her own journey with mental health.
“Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone.
“To honor Emman’s memory, we hope you carry forward the qualities she lived by: compassion, courage, and a little extra kindness in your everyday life. With love, Kim, Feli, Jose, and Eliana.”
Emman was also the granddaughter of former Manila mayor Lito Atienza.
Her family are widely regarded as one of the Philippines‘ most prominent families.
