CHRISTMAS Eve boxes are a sweet tradition, allowing kids to have a little treat before Santa comes down the chimney.
The small gifts are given the night before Christmas, and usually include things like pyjamas and books.
But when money is tight, it can feel like a stressful extra expense on top of Christmas Day presents, decor and food.
So a £2 buy in B&M is proving popular with savvy mums who are keen to create some festive magic before December 25 – without breaking the bank.
The Christmas snack and drink set comes complete with a 480ml soda cup and straw, and snack box, and is available in two festive prints – Santa or reindeer.
The snack box could be filled with popcorn, sweets or a mixture of snacks.
And the adorable set is the perfect treat for snuggling up as a family for a Christmas movie on December 24.
Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, which boasts 2.6m members, savvy mum Victoria said: “B&M thought be nice for Xmas Eve movie.”
Her post quickly racked up more than 500 likes and 385 comments.
And other parents are racing to snap up a set of their own in time for Christmas.
“How cute are these, need to get some”, one cried.
A second wrote: “These would be sooooo cute for a wee Xmas movie night. They are bloody adorable.”
Someone else insisted: “All the kids would love them watching an Xmas film on Xmas Eve.”
A fourth added: “Oh these are fabulous! We love our movie afternoons so this will be perfect.”
“Not a bad price either good idea for Xmas eve movie”, chimed in a fifth.
Meanwhile, a sixth revealed: “I have bought these for my granddaughters for Xmas eve they are very nice well worth £2.”
It comes after other mums revealed they have ditched Christmas Eve boxes for December boxes instead.
Explaining why she gives her child a box on December 1st, instead of Christmas Eve, Charlotte took to Instagram to reveal: “I give my daughter her Christmas pj’s etc. on 1st December so she gets more wear and use out of them.”
Among the bargains that the money-saving mum has already picked up for her daughter’s First of December Box is a Poo in the Zoo book, that she bought from Amazon for £2.83.
Some photo frames from B&M and Home Bargains will be going in the box, as well.
How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
