MAFS UK fans branded Bailey a “red flag” and claimed he was gaslighting Rebecca last night as a bitter row unfolded.
The pair argued after Rebecca revealed her “secret crush” during a game and said if she wasn’t married to Bailey, she’d want to be with Joe in the E4 expermiment.
The confession arose when the couples were told to answer the hypothetical question in a game of Secrets and Lies last week.
Bailey stormed off when he heard Rebecca’s answer, telling her: “I’m done!”
The fallout aired last night, and viewers saw the otherwise strong couple working it out.
Still bruised from the remark, Bailey told her: “We said we wouldn’t answer these questions, and then you did it to me. I couldn’t believe you’d done it, if I’m honest.
“I was upset, I left. I didn’t want to be around, that.”
But Rebecca snapped: “You were basically implying that you were done with me and all relationship!”
Bailey said she was shouting at him, and that the whole thing felt like “slapping someone you in the face and then being like, ‘Why are you crying like that?”
He continued: “If I was asked who I fancy, and I picked any of the other girls, how would your reaction be?
“You said to me, you would never be with a man that ever answered that question. So you’d leave me. So your reaction would have been much worse, “
Rebecca then backed down and got upset, before the couple hugged it out.
She said through tears: “I felt so sad and upset today because I’ve hurt you. Because you mean so much to me. I am sorry for doing it because we’ve always had this protective bubble around us.
“And I feel like I have, like, like, popped it.”
Speaking to the producers afterwards, Bailey also choked back tears.
He said: “It’s really emotional seeing Becks cry.
“It makes me realise that I’m just happy going through this with her. I just wouldn’t be able to do it with anyone else.”
Some fans were shocked by Bailey’s reaction and complained it was way over the top.
One shared the definition of the term gaslighting on X, formerly Twitter.
It said: “Gaslighting: The psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories.
“Typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one’s emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpertrator.”
Another fan said: “Bailey was done with the relationship over a hypothetical question. What a (red flag)”
However, others couldn’t figure out who was gaslighting who, and accused Rebecca of doing it to Bailey.
One said: “I know it’s been 72 hours.. but I still remember Rebecca adding on to the end of her answer about Joe – ‘but it doesn’t matter, Bailey is the only one for me’ or something similar…? :worried: Why is everyone assuming she’s gaslighting when he may well have lost his shit?”
Another said: “They agreed they wouldn’t pick any of the girls or boys in question times … she diminished his feelings.”
It comes after Bailey dropped the L-bomb during their second commitment ceremony.
