Horse racing tips: ‘He can go back-to-back over this specialist trip’

TEMPLEGATE’S Monday selections are below – as we look to build the bank to Cheltenham returning this weekend.

ON EDGE (4.25 Bath, nap)

The seven-year-old enjoyed his first visit to the Somerset track three weeks ago when swooping late to grab the win. That was a good effort in a big field over this in-between sprint trip and a 3lb rise in the weights gives him every chance of following up.

SHAYEM (3.03 Pontefract, nb)

Looks a nice prospect for Karl Burke who continues in excellent form. This two-year-old scored on debut at Haydock in August before making the podium in Listed company. He only had two to beat at Epsom last time but did it nicely.

JEDHI KNIGHT (1.55 Bath, treble)

Has plenty of staying power. He was in winning form over this testing trip at Ffos Las in August and was a solid second there last time. He’s still on a fair weight and can go close.

AUSTRIAN THEORY (4.33 Pontefract, Lucky 15)

Won this race 12 months ago and ran close to his best when second at Ayr latest. He’s back off the same mark with every chance for local trainer Tim Easterby.
