TODAY marks the last chance for Tesco shoppers to nab some free cash for Christmas through an extended Clubcard scheme.
The deadline to apply for the scheme was extended to today but applications must be completed in a matter of hours to qualify.
Applications were due to close on Thursday October 16, but that was extended until today.
In the run up to the Christmas period shoppers can add cash to their Clubcard.
As an incentive the supermarket giant will add a little bonus on top of whatever customers top up.
Then, in November, the supermarket will send you your vouchers for the value of what you saved, which you can spend over the busy Christmas period.
The savings can be topped up throughout the year with your own money too.
The maximum reward is a £12 bonus, and the rates are as follows:
- £1.50 bonus when you save between £25 and £49
- £3 bonus when you save between £50 and £99
- £6 bonus when you save between £100 and £199
- £12 bonus when you save £200 to £360
Customers can redeem their hard earned bonus vouchers on the Tesco website, in-store, or even on petrol at Tesco garages.
To try it out, you need to top-up your Clubcard with money throughout the year via the Tesco app or Clubcard website.
Shama Wilson, group membership and loyalty director Tesco said: “We know that Clubcard Christmas Savers is always popular as it helps our customers to save for their big Christmas shop, plus they can get up to a £12 bonus on us.
“Time is running out for this year’s scheme, but we’re giving customers an extra three days until the end of 19 October so they can save even more for the festive season.”
while Tesco is the only one offering customers the chance to save ahead of Christmas, other schemes are available from other supermarkets.
Sainsbury’s runs a similar offer to help customers save in the run-up to Christmas.
Customers can begin putting money on their card from the start of the year, with the reward handed out in November.
Shoppers receive a 5% cash bonus equivalent to £2.50 for every £50 you have on your card on the November 1.
Asda also offers a Christmas Savings Card to help customers prepare for the big day.
It’s a gift card you can spend or top up at any time, with the benefit of receiving a bonus in November based on your balance.
The bonus increases the more you save, with the supermarket handing out a £15 bonus when you save £280.
And Morrisons Christmas saving card is linked to its More app.
The stamps are bought in-store by asking the cashier how much you want to top up by.
You then scan your Morrisons More card to link the stamps to your account.
The maximum bonus you can get is £6.
