Struggling Nottingham Forest welcome Chelsea to the City Ground with manager Ange Postecoglou on the brink.
It’s been less than 40 days since Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, but there’s already talk of a departure, with Sean Dyche strongly linked as his replacement.
Why? Results.
Nottingham Forest are winless in seven games since Postecoglou’s arrival, drawing twice and losing five – including home defeats to Sunderland and Midtjylland, with 15 goals conceded in the process.
In Postecoglou’s four Premier League games, his side have the third-lowest expected goals (3.28) and the second-highest expected goals conceded in the division (7.33).
Following an impressive seventh-placed finish last term, Forest find themselves hovering above the relegation zone in 17th after seven games.
So victory on Saturday is something of a must following the international break – but it’s far from the ideal fixture for Ange.
He lost all four matches he’s managed against Chelsea with Tottenham by an aggregate score of 11–4, while Forest have won once in 13 attempts against the Blues and none at the City Ground since 1997.
As for Chelsea, they should arrive optimistic of piling more pressure on the Australian.
Enzo Maresca – who himself has been under the microscope – responded well to criticism with big victories over Benfica in the Champions League and champions Liverpool last time out.
However, Chelsea have won just three of their last 14 away games in the Premier League (D4 L7). Indeed, in 2025, just 27% of their points have come away from home (12/45) – the lowest ratio of any ever-present side in the top-flight.
The Blues also have a few injury issues to overcome, with the likes of Reece James and Enzo Fernandez considered major doubts, while Cole Palmer remains in the recovery room.

It’s not a huge price, but we’re backing Chelsea to score over 1.5 goals at 5/6 with William Hill.
As mentioned, Nottingham Forest have shipped 15 goals in seven matches since Ange Postecoglou took charge. Seven of those have come in the Premier League, where they have the second-worst expected goals conceded of all 20 sides in the division.
Only Burnley have conceded more shots on target over the last four top-flight games (22). So Chelsea, buoyed by that win over Liverpool, should take advantage of a defensively vulnerable Forest.

The Wales full-back, 24, leads the way for most fouls committed in the Forest side this season, with 10 from six matches. He’s also been booked in three of his last five games for club and country.
He’s committed two fouls in each of his last two Premier League outings and was cautioned in this fixture last season.
