Arsenal game SUSPENDED for 10 mins as Brighton star collapses and given oxygen after being struck by a ball to the head

THE Women’s Super League clash between Arsenal and Brighton was stopped for 10 MINUTES after a shocking head injury.

Maelys Mpome was defending a cross in the second half in front of the away fans when the ball clattered her directly in the face.

She was treated on the field before being put into a neck brace and put into a stretcher

The Seagulls star was left down on the Emirates turf in a heap as physio’s rushed over to treat her.

The French defender was placed into a neck brace and placed onto a stretcher.

In concerning scenes she was stretchered off the pitch by six medics under a hammock with an oxygen mask and tank attached to her.

Brighton fans gave Mpome a standing ovation as she left the field.

The teams social media account said of the injury: “After a lengthy pause in play, Maelys has been stretchered off after initially receiving medical attention on the pitch.

“Wishing you a speedy recovery, Maelys.”

Dutch footballer Marit Auee replaced the 22-year-old.

Brighton were hit with a second injury concern moments later as Maisie Symonds was left unable to continue after going down off the ball.

A staggering 13 minutes was added on in injury time.

A crowd of 27,336 were in attendance for the game in north London, just under half the total capacity of the Emirates stadium.
