‘It’s not easy when you have to step on her back and go over because it can only be a limited amount of weight so she doesn’t get hurt, but you were flying like an angel’.
She concluded: our cartwheels were synchronised to perfection. That whole number, the kids at home are gonna go wild, we were going wild – it was great’.
However after Anton Du Beke said he felt George didn’t ‘come alive’ until after he did his big lift, Craig echoed him and went one further.
He said: ‘Anton Du Beke is actually right. It needed to be sharper. Shirley I don’t agree with you. It was out of sync a lot. K-Pop should be like a machine darling.’
Despite Craig not finishing his critique, the audience responded with huge boos and jeers before Shirley who responded with a quick quip.
Due to guest judge, broadway star and Wicked actress Cynthia Erivo being part of the judges lineup this week, Shirley was sat three seats away from Craig, as opposed to her usual two.
With tensions brewing, the ballroom dancer said: ‘From that end of the desk, it might look one way, but from this end, it looked b****y fabulous. It looked amazing’.
Without batting an eyelid, Craig cut back: ‘I’m telling you Shirley, you’re wrong!’

‘This type of dance, it has to be absolutely specific and that is why it looks like one type of person dancing throughout and it wasn’t like that unfortunately.’

As George and Alexis made their way to the Clauditorium, host Claudia Winkleman joked that the pair had ’caused a ruckus with the judges’.
Despite the squabble, George scored an impressive 31 out of 40 – with Shirley awarding him nine points and Craig just six.

It’s not the first time Craig and Shirley haven’t seen eye to eye.
Last year things became particularly uncomfortable between the two judges when they discussed former Eastenders actor Jamie Borthwick and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas.
The two became very heated with raised voices, meaning judge Motsi had to step in and interrupt them to successfully diffuse the situation.
